Film peeps - had an absolute blast playing this board game called HOLLYWOOD 1947, where you play as studio workers trying to slip either communist or democratic propaganda into movies. Really cute and highly recommend!
It's actually crazy that Gone with the Wind is, adjusted for inflation, still the highest-grossing movie of all time, considering movie tickets at the time were so cheap that people visited the cinema once a week even during the depression. Just how many people saw that movie?
“Fate cast me to play the role of an ugly duckling with no promise of swanning. I have played my life as a comedy, rather than the tragedy many would have made of it.”
Happy heavenly birthday, beloved Marie Dressler—you gave me these words to live by, when I needed them most.❤️
sometimes you watch a movie from just like 15 years ago and they have 100 actual people in a shot and you go "it's a shame this is impossible now. it's a shame they lost this technology, to hire 100 people to actually go be there and stand in the background"
