I am truly honored to have been part of this historic gathering.

For two days in NYC, 150 rabbis and community leaders from around the world came together at the UJA @UJAfedNY for the second Sephardic Rabbinic Conference @SephardiRabbis.

Under this year’s theme, The Art of Leadership, we explored how to cultivate an authentic and balanced Sephardic voice of leadership. A voice marked by integrity, responsiveness, creativity, responsibility, and adaptability; attentive to the changing world around us, deeply rooted in Torah, and unwavering in its commitment to the Jewish people.

The first day concluded with a beautiful evening of music at the historic Shearith Israel synagogue.

I am deeply grateful to every delegate, especially those who traveled from around the world, who made the effort to participate, to the organizations that supported and believed in this gathering, and to all the volunteers who helped make it possible.

And a special thank you to my dear friends and fellow organizers, Avi Garson @AviGarson and Ethan Marcus, for their tremendous work, vision, and dedication that brought it all together.

The death of Jason Arday is tragic, and makes me so angry.

Even the most casual observer could see he was a vulnerable fantasist.

A number of people at a number of academic institutions have serious questions to answer. They put him into positions he was clearly not qualified for so they could have a black wunderkind to show off, they pushed him into the spotlight for their own benefit.

His exposure was inevitable, a case of when, not if.

His whole world fell apart.

The Arday Affair is no longer only about Jason Arday.

It is about the professors who appointed him, the institutions that failed to scrutinise him, and an academic culture in which victim identity can too easily become a shield against criticism, evidence and accountability.

Cambridge should investigate, but a local inquiry is not enough. We need a national inquiry into the corrupting effect of identity politics on our universities.

As AI capabilities continue to advance, our ability to identify AI-generated content becomes increasingly important. If AI can produce images, videos, and audio that are indistinguishable from reality, how do we know what is true?

But the greatest challenge is not merely technical—it is ethical. Even if we develop reliable methods for detecting AI-generated content, we must still contend with a deeply human tendency: believing what we want to believe.

Technology can help us identify deception. It cannot stop us from creating, sharing, or embracing falsehoods for the sake of entertainment, outrage, ideology, or attention.
