@cb_doge Some may say the Rupert family has a very sizable stake in Herotel (controlling stake?) as it's owned by Maziv, which is 57% owned by CIVH which is majority owned by Remgro - the Rupert fam inv vehicle.
Some may say the Rupert family benefited a lot more from Apartheid than Elon.

@DieDagbreker @JacquesMaree73 @brettherron @Bluewave4 The increases to rates and taxes since about 2018 have been stratospheric - and tbh - I don't really see a difference, actually we have more water outages than ever before.
Comparing Cpt to Jhb is losing its charm for me (not you - this was a lady by the name of Maria).

@JacquesMaree73 @brettherron @Bluewave4 Because the fixed pipe levy - which was still there, was also increased by 8.6% for the pipe replacements.

The charges are astronomical when viewed vs pre-drought. And sure I am happy that the infrastructure is being maintained, but hell's bells man.

@JacquesMaree73 @brettherron @Bluewave4 I won't delve into the drought (where water consumption halved but the per liter consumption charge on our bills increased by 360% for step2 - peak vs baseline).

But why the 19% (step1) / 23% (step 2) increase in 2024/25 fiscal vs 2023/24 in consumption charge?

However - it is incorrect claiming this is an OLD tax.
