@CSU_Athletics dropping wrestling is the wrong choice for SO MANY reasons. That decision is clearly out of touch and completely uninformed. Wrestling could actually help @CLE_State get off life support if embraced. The scarcity mindset’s gonna be the downfall of the university.

Welp, it appears USA Wrestling is out for blood with the new rules surrounding country representation… From what I’m seeing effective 11/2024 they want to essentially “fine” athletes if they had a USA Wrestling Card and then seek to wrestle for another nation. We are talking as young as u16 and talking big money.

Looking like $10,000-$300,000 depending how good you are… For example, if you medaled at an age level world tournament, fee goes up!

They are claiming it’s some sort of reimbursement for training in the USA, but don’t and won’t provide an itemized list of how and where these funds were spent on these athletes? They also want to take a % of that “fine” and invoice it to new host nation.

Some may see this as a valid response if they are under some belief that “you shouldn’t wrestle elsewhere”, but it’s not; seems more like exploitation to me. Let folks seek their opportunities, wrestling is a niche sport and for most out there it’s already hard enough to continue competing with little return.

I believe this move will dilute World/Olympic level competition & hinder key opportunities…

If you got a USA wrestling card, they are basically saying they own you and you owe them money if you switch- even if you never competed for USA.

Can USA wrestling show when and where they spent $10-20-30-40-50 thousand on individual wrestlers as young as 15 years old? Confusing.

I’m all for TEAM USA and all for more funding, but this is a crappy way to do it- in my opinion.

Women’s wrestling needs larger weight classes.

76kg or 167.5 is considered women’s Heavyweight, and the sports biggest weight class.

A study conducted in 2018 showed the average women age 20-39 is 167lbs.

There are incredibly athletic women around the world that are forced out of wrestling because they outgrow or exist outside of its insanely small weight limitations.

Vinesh overcame abuse, fought against the government, did her best to make a weight that wasn’t naturally right for her, took out the number 1 lb for lb, and probably overcame so much more I know nothing about.

Overcame things most of us will thankfully never have to.

.@RobertKennedyJr fought for truth when the majority of us (including myself) fell victim to the oppression of one of the biggest coordinated, global scandals in human history.

It isn't just about vaccine mandates and lockdowns. It is about something far worse: coercive control.

What is coercive control?

➡️ Coercive control describes an ongoing and multipronged strategy, with tactics that include manipulation, humiliation, isolation, financial abuse, and surveillance.

➡️ Being isolated from your family and friends.
Being deprived of your basic needs (i.e. Food, medication and comfort).
Being financially economically deprived.
Losing control of your everyday life (i.e. where you go, whom you can see, what you wear, what you can buy, etc.).
Being threatened if you do not behave in a certain way.

➡️ Controlling your reproductive choices and sexual health.
Being controlled as to where you can work, and what type of work you do.
Being stopped from working or going to school/college/university, etc.
Having limited authority over your accounts.
Controlling public conduct and freedom of movement.
Monitoring your activities, movements and communication (i.e. emails, social media, spyware on mobile phone & computer, etc.).
Threatening to publish information about you including to the police and authorities.
Insisting you answer to authority.
Subjecting you to constant criticism, humiliation, intimidation and degrading name-calling.
Being repeatedly put down for your qualified opinions, threatening to ruin you professionally.
Having your property or household come under threat.
Coercing you into harming your children.

This subjugation of the victim occurs against a background of entitlement and inequality. Each “cut” serves to dramatically reduce the victim’s “space for action” by curtailing their freedom in different ways; for example: –

Freedom of Movement (i.e. Giving the illusion that victim is free to make independent choices, however, the perpetrator uses fear to justify and control.

Freedom of Association (i.e. Speaking on their victim’s behalf, filtering whom they see or speak to, limiting their outside involvement and access to information.

Freedom of Finances (i.e. not allowing any financial independence, monitoring where they can work and go to make a living, preventing them from working outside the home, etc.).

Once the perpetrator manages to isolate their victim and instil in them a trance of fear, they become much easier to control. In effect, the victim’s sense of personal agency is vanishing little by little, and soon they may even begin to doubt their sanity. This form of intimate terrorism creates a feeling of tyranny and entrapment in the victim.
