There is much to celebrate this week, but I want to call specific attention to historic gains Democratic women made in representation:
- For the first time in history, over 100 Democratic women will serve in the U.S. House.
- At least 16 Democratic women will serve in the Senate.
- At least 14 Democratic women will serve as governors, a record high.
- A record of 2,600 Democratic women running for seats in state legislatures helped flip 12 majorities and break 11 supermajorities.
- Four states elected their first woman governor: Georgia, Minnesota, Ohio, and Tennessee.
- @KeishaBottoms will be the first Black woman to serve as a governor.
- @DebHaalandNM will be the first Native American woman to serve as a governor.
- @GinaHinojosaTX will be the first Latina to serve as governor of Texas.
- @peggyflanagan will be the first Native American woman to serve in the Senate.
I am beyond excited to see these extraordinary people and public servants tackle accountability, affordability, and our other challenges to make life better for everyone in this country.
Congratulations to everyone who ran: win or lose, fighting for what's right is always worth it.
Vice Admiral Nancy Lacore defied the odds, winning the race for South Carolina’s First Congressional District. Lacore was fired by Pete Hegseth without cause after 35 years of service to our country. She could have retired, but Lacore wasn’t ready to stop serving. Now she’ll represent South Carolina in Congress, and VoteVets is proud to have had her back.
@Eugene_Robinson Yes, but each morning one will still wonder what the hell has he done overnight. I will be happy when he’s gone for good! We are lucky to now control the house and senate.
Good morning, Ohio. Here's your reminder that Vivek Ramaswamy is a billionaire scam artist who flew his private jet to Paris on America's 250th birthday, while @amyactonoh celebrated in Marietta — our first settlement.
Here's your reminder that he protects, platforms, and campaigns with sexual abusers. That he scammed Ohio families and left them hopeless. That he called Medicare and Medicaid "mistakes" and wants to dismantle them. That he called Ohioans lazy, mediocre, and "envious" of his wealth.
In 2 days, he's going to find out that he can't use his billions to buy Ohio.
At the heart of democracy is the right to choose who governs us—a precious freedom generations of Americans fought to secure. As you make your choices, consider what matters most to you, your family & our country's future. Let your values & our nation's founding ideals guide you.
Vivek made the choice to attack victims with a disgusting ad, so we attacked Vivek with our own... except ours is going to keep running because we won't let a sick man get away with what he did.
On November 3rd, 36 states will elect their next governor. The outcome of these races will make a real difference in the lives of millions of people — but only if you vote.
So join me in electing @DemGovs: https://t.co/v3rBUTZPdF
A proven leader with the grit, determination, and resolve to bring down costs and fight for Ohio working families.
Ohioans know who they can trust in this race.
#OHGOV: Illinois First Lady MK Pritzker, wife of JB Pritzker, announces she’s sending $500,000 to Amy Acton after Vivek Ramswamy’s ad featuring Acton’s mom
People who have been around politics a long time may be struck as I was by the sheriff's signature on this arrest warrant for Amy Acton's stepfather, who at the time was a fugitive. Does the name James Traficant ring a bell?
HUGE: President Obama has endorsed Sherrod Brown for U.S. Senate in Ohio.
“Sherrod Brown has always fought for working people—standing up to big corporations, Wall Street, and pharmaceutical companies.
Because Sherrod Brown believes in the promise of America.”
