Even in the summer we try to practice like regular season and keep everything structured by the minute. Common terminology used in film, on paper and in the gym.
There is no regular season “flow”that gets turned on in October.

FLOW OFFENSIVE BREAKDOWN: Here's how we use small sided games to build up our conceptual "Flow" offense. We begin 1v1 and progress up to 5v5. I also included our favorite SSG to teach dominoes, which is a 4v3 advantage drill. You can watch a couple of these in the link below.
Flow is our answer to, "What do you do when the defense has you in neutral? Spacing template = 4 Out 1 In. After a pass from the action spots, make a gap generating cut (fingers, fan, follow). Toolbox includes DHO & Spread PNR. Post feed = Splits. Drive & Space is the solution.
Minnesota Post Touch
- if the initial action isn't there, 1 can pass to the flashing big man to go high-low or reverse to the corner for an even deeper angle
Came across this video I shared previously of the "No Paint" SSG used by Coach Gates. Great way to teach the importance of "No Paint" on defense, while challenging the offense to get 2 feet in the paint!
Give it a shot with your team. Highly competitive!

A coach recently asked me about scouting reports. IMO the best teams play loose and confident, and that’s hard to do as a player with information overload.
I’d know 100% of the stuff, give players about 33% of it in both practice and on paper, then hope they’d retain half of that 33%.
So basically if they got close to 20% of what I knew, I felt we’d be good to go and avoid information overload😅
EVERY TEAM SHOULD PLAY THIS GAME!
Great rebounding drill, but you can also start it off a BLOB or half court possession depending on your focus.
Play down and back & emphasize areas you want to grow! 1 of my all-time favorite games!

This defense is different. 👀
Green Bay's Buzz Zone Defense creates confusion, takes teams out of rhythm, and forces bad decisions.
The crazy part? There's a simple set of rules behind it.
Coach Mike Divilbiss breaks down the entire system and explains exactly what's happening in these clips.
📚 The full breakdown is hiding in my favorite coaching spot.
