I once again here to defend the idea that biology doesn’t negate psychology. Our collective minds in order to defend our biological drives (to survival, for comfort) evolved to believe in human rights, free will etc. this doesn’t make it less real. It actually makes it even more

Looking fwd to #ACNP2023 next week! Check out our poster on mon w/ @oigeorgia @chloelilywest. I’ll be presenting our work in both humans and mice showing how 5HT2A agonists (psychedelics) affect cortical feedback circuitry to alter visual context processing and saccadic behavior.
On top of that you don't build arguments based on very weak evidence from social psychology experiments that have very small effects sizes (and replicability!) and antiquated notions that the brain is controlled by a prefrontal cortex (a homunculus controlling behavior??).
Sapolsky thinks he is going agaisnt free will by stating statistics about hormones and trauma that generalize behavior when actually the fact that there's a lot of examples where those conditions didnt triggered the "statistically likely" outcome is an example of free will
