Drop Site's Ryan Grim asked Yemeni scholar Dr. Shireen Al-Adeimi about the ideological roots of Yemen's divide.
Al-Adeimi explained how Ansar Allah emerged in Sa'dah resisting Saudi-funded Wahhabi schools, "fighting for the soul of Islam in Yemen." Today's southern separatists, she said, are not heirs to the revolutionaries who founded South Yemen, the Arab world's only Marxist state (1967–1990). They "would not have accepted UAE money" or Saudi money.
Al-Adeimi, who said southern resentment toward the north runs too deep to overcome by force, also discussed how the war could end with southern autonomy, which Ansar Allah might accept but Riyadh likely won't.

🇸🇦|He Walked Out from Within: A Saudi Officer’s Testimony Blows Open a Door That Can No Longer Be Closed
October 16, 2026 | Riyadh / Sana’a
Dressed in his Saudi military uniform, Abdul Wahid Abdul Mohsen looks into the camera and says what he was never supposed to say.
He is not Yemeni. He is not a spokesperson for the Houthis. He is not an Iranian propagandist. He is a non-commissioned officer in the Saudi Armed Forces, having served as the personal secretary to Saudi Air Force General Ali Saad Al-Marri. He has seen the documents. He has been inside the command centers. He knows where the bombs took off from, who authorized them, and who circled the names on the target lists.
He states: Saudi Arabia has committed war crimes in Yemen. He declares: He is releasing the documents. He announces: He is done.
This is his testimony.
💥 Sixty Officers, Forty-One Pages, One Conclusion
Abdul Mohsen is not alone.
The Saudi whistleblower known as "Mujtahid" has revealed that at least sixty Saudi officers have submitted their resignations. The reasons for their resignation are laid out in a 41-page statement: they could no longer continue to participate in the war in Yemen, and they feared that their names might one day appear in the files of an international war crimes tribunal.
Sixty individuals. Not sixty rebels, but sixty men who wore Saudi military uniforms, drew Saudi salaries, and carried out Saudi orders. What they know, what they have witnessed, and why they chose to walk away in the twelfth year of the war these are not matters requiring "investigation." They are established facts.
📜 What They Witnessed Firsthand
These men are not mere bystanders who stumbled upon videos on social media. They were the people inside the operations rooms.
They watched as Saudi warplanes took off from Khamis Mushait and Taif, targeting markets, schools, hospitals, weddings, funerals, water treatment plants, and encampments. They saw the school bus carrying dozens of children on a field trip blown to pieces in 2018, only to hear a coalition spokesperson in Riyadh declare at a press conference that "it was not a school bus." They saw prisoners in secret detention centers tortured to death. They saw individuals who had surrendered being run over by armored vehicles, with those inside the vehicles shouting, "Run them over!"
These are not "allegations." They are a record of events.
🔻 Why Saudi Arabia Can No Longer Keep This Door Closed
Saudi Arabia’s narrative regarding the war relies on a single premise: denial.
Denial that hospitals were bombed. Denial that children were killed. Denial that cluster munitions were used. Denial that torture centers were established in Yemen. Denial that those who surrendered were crushed by vehicles.
A man who has stepped out from within the system has shattered that premise.
When an enemy speaks, one might dismiss it as a lie. But when officers from one’s own military including a personal secretary to a general, alongside sixty colleagues who have resigned all tell the same story, such denials become a farce. Abdul-Muhsin is not standing on a podium in Sana’a; he is wearing a Saudi military uniform. He once belonged to "our side." Now he says: The crimes are real. I am a witness.
The blood of the Yemeni people is not a file to be tucked away in an archive.
Twelve years. Tens of thousands of airstrikes. Hundreds of thousands dead. Millions displaced. An entire nation pushed to the brink of famine. With the support of American weaponry, intelligence, and logistics, Saudi Arabia has reduced Yemen to ruins.
Saudi Arabia may continue its denials. It may continue its bombardment. It may continue to justify its crimes by labeling others "Iranian proxies." But it cannot stop its own officers from speaking the truth on video. It cannot prevent sixty individuals from resigning. It cannot stop that forty-one-page statement from being written, circulated, and recorded.
Abdul-Muhsin’s testimony is not the end. It is the beginning.
Long live Yemen. Long live the Resistance. Long live the Axis of Resistance.
🚨🇮🇷 Iran hit Gulf oil, gas, nuclear and water sites 135 times with pinpoint precision... and Gulf governments covered it up as “falling debris”
The investigation went site by site with satellite imagery, 36 insiders and 14 outside experts, and the pattern is unmistakable.
Iran didn't spray missiles at the Gulf.
It hit the one manifold that routes oil through Fujairah, twice.
It hit the two "cold boxes" at Ras Laffan that take three to five years to replace.
It hit the electrical substation at the Barakah nuclear plant 130 meters from a reactor, and the IAEA chief said whoever did it "knew exactly what they were doing."
It hit the pumping station that feeds the Saudi East-West pipeline, Kuwait's desalination plants, Amazon's data centers, and the power plant for Abu Dhabi's aluminum smelter, which won't fully restart until 2027.
Gulf governments blamed debris in at least 34 statements and made it illegal to photograph the damage. All 14 experts said debris could not have done this.
Here's what it adds up to. Saudi output fell from 10 million barrels a day to under 7 million for six months, a $50 billion hole. Kuwait exported zero crude in April, a first since 1991.
The UAE's attacks stopped in May, right after $3 billion in frozen Iranian funds were released, which Abu Dhabi denies and a senior Iranian official confirmed.
This is how a country with no navy and no air force held off the Pentagon for seven months: it skipped the bases and went for the valves, and every bypass route around Hormuz got closed one small target at a time.
Tehran's parliament speaker said it in September, the Gulf's oil chain is "sprawling, accessible, and exposed."
Reuters just proved him right.

🇾🇪| The Tribes of Hamdan Answer the Call: Yemen's Fateful Battle Against the Saudi Enemy
October 15, 2026 | Sana'a
Sheikh Hussein Naji Hussein Al-Tawdani did not speak of negotiations. He did not speak of ceasefires. He did not speak of international resolutions that never come. He spoke of a fateful battle, and he called upon the tribes of Yemen to mobilize their sons and push them into military training courses to defend the homeland.
This is not a faction. This is not a militia. This is the tribal structure of Yemen—the oldest and deepest social institution in the country—responding to the call of the land. The tribes of Hamdan are not alone. Across the governorates, sheikhs are mobilizing. Training camps are filling. The sons of Yemen are moving toward the front lines, not because they are paid, not because they are conscripted, but because the homeland is under attack and the tribes have decided to defend it.
The Fateful Battle
Sheikh Al-Tawdani used the word "fateful." It was not hyperbole. Yemen has been bombed for twelve years. Its hospitals have been destroyed. Its schools have been turned to rubble. Its markets have been struck. Its children have been starved. Its airports have been closed. Its ports have been blockaded. Its sovereignty has been violated.
The Saudi-led coalition believed that after twelve years, Yemen would break. It believed that the bombing would exhaust the people. It believed that the blockade would starve them into submission. It believed that the resistance would collapse under the weight of international pressure and internal fatigue.
The tribes of Hamdan are the answer. They have not broken. They have not submitted. They have not tired. They have mobilized.
The Tribal Defense That Cannot Be Bombed
The Saudi-led coalition has spent hundreds of billions of dollars trying to defeat Yemen. It has bought mercenaries. It has armed proxies. It has built coalitions. It has deployed American aircraft, American intelligence, American targeting support. It has bombed from the air, blockaded from the sea, and destabilized from within.
It cannot bomb the tribal structure. It cannot blockade the tribal bonds. It cannot destabilize the tribal unity.
The tribes of Yemen are not a conventional army. They do not have a central command that can be decapitated. They do not have a capital that can be occupied. They do not have a supply line that can be severed. They are a distributed network of families, clans, and communities, each capable of mobilizing, training, and fighting independently. The Saudi war machine is built to destroy states. It was never built to destroy tribes.
The Contrast
The Saudi-backed forces are paid in riyals. They are trained by foreign officers. They are commanded by men who answer to Riyadh and Abu Dhabi. They fight for money. They fight for wages. They fight because they are contracted to fight. When the contract ends, they go home.
The Yemeni tribes fight for something the mercenaries cannot understand. They fight for their land. They fight for their honor. They fight for their people. They fight because there is no alternative. When the enemy is at the gate, the tribe mobilizes. It is not a choice. It is an instinct.
The Saudi-backed forces have surrendered by the thousands. They have abandoned their equipment. They have fled to Aden. They have defected from their formations. The 10th Samad Brigade. The Sixth Giants Brigade. The mercenaries in Taiz who ran to Aden the moment the road was opened.
The Yemeni tribes have not surrendered. They have not abandoned their positions. They have not fled. They have mobilized.
The Message to Riyadh
The message is clear. The tribes of Yemen are not a militia. They are the people. The Saudi regime has spent twelve years trying to crush the Yemeni people. It has failed. The tribes are now mobilizing. They are training. They are preparing.
The Saudi regime can bomb markets. It can bomb hospitals. It can bomb schools. It can bomb funeral gatherings. It cannot bomb the tribes. It cannot bomb the families. It cannot bomb the will of a people who have decided that the homeland will be defended.
The Verdict
Sheikh Al-Tawdani did not ask for permission. He did not ask for international assistance. He did not ask for American support. He asked the tribes to mobilize. The tribes are answering.
The fateful battle has begun. The tribes of Yemen are moving.
Long live Yemen. Long live the Resistance. Long live the Axis of Resistance.

Not sure whether the ongoing protests by political parties, students’ organisations and civil societies will culminate in the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar but the impact is already seen in the functioning of the poll body.
Changes in SSR 2027:
1. Soft copy of electoral rolls in readable format to political parties.
2. Additions, depletions and modifications lists will also be shared with political parties.
3. Soft copy of electoral rolls in readable format to be shared with contesting candidates.
4. Weekly list of claims and objections will be shared with political parties.
Though more needs to be reformed in ECI, this is a first step towards greater transparency in the making of electoral rolls.

Shivshankar Menon’s remarks have indeed shown me a different Indian voice. In its conduct of foreign relations, India always displays a certain immaturity. This immaturity refers to an excessive tendency to translate its own perceptions and emotions into rules that others are expected to abide by.
For example, many Indians believe in the immense destructiveness of Muslims in the history of the subcontinent, so much so that when Indians look at Pakistan, Bangladesh, or even domestic Muslims, they harbour a strong victim mentality. Today’s Indian society inflicts a certain degree of violence on Muslims and humiliates Pakistan, which can provide a kind of compensation for this victim mentality. For another example, many Indians view China with the mentality of a spiritual mentor, believing China to be India’s student. Yet the events of 1962 and 2020 gave Indians a victim mentality of “I taught you so much—how could you repay kindness with enmity?” Displaying a tough stance toward China is aimed at smoothing over this spiritual trauma. Yet another example: India both envies the economic and social development of the West, hoping to win Western recognition, and deeply fears that the West will once again control India and undermine its strategic autonomy.
Such a mentality may indeed provide a kind of psychological compensation, but the problem is that it will also further worsen India’s surrounding security environment.
In this respect, India is far inferior to China. In order to stabilise its peripheral security environment, China supported North Korea against the United States, supported Vietnam against France and the United States, and struck back hard against India’s invasion—but in every case, once the war ended, the situation stabilised. When China demarcated land borders with the vast majority of its neighbours, it gave up a large number of territorial claims. This major compromise was undoubtedly also intended to stabilise the surrounding environment and concentrate more energy and funds on national development.
Compared with China, India is practically its opposite. India finds it difficult to compromise on territory and security, and in the end can only maintain long-term armed confrontation with its neighbours. This both disperses development funds and distracts domestic political attention. It is as if venting emotions matters more than developing oneself. Once India has a dispute with a neighbouring country, India is absolutely in the right; any negative event can be a conspiracy by China, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, or even the United States.
Therefore, I often joke to my friends that Indians live in another world. In that world, the sun revolves around the earth, the earth revolves around India, and India revolves around the Brahmins.
Unlike Indians, who are extremely lacking in the tendency to look for causes within themselves, Chinese children are taught from the moment they enter school that whenever a problem arises, they must distinguish internal from external causes. If you cannot change the environment, you must change yourself and strive to adapt to it. This may be one of the major reasons in its way of thinking for China’s tremendous success.

Delhi SIR cut 47.56 lakh names from the draft roll. That's 32.78% of voters, as per The Hindu.
Now ECI says : want your name back? Fill Form 6.
Form 6 makes you affirm you're "applying for inclusion in the electoral roll for the first time."
But these people HAVE voted before. For years.
Sign it, and you've made a false declaration.
Under Section 31 of the RP Act, that can mean up to 1 year in jail.
So the choice ECI gives a Delhi voter:
Lie and risk jail, or lose your vote.
The plea in the Supreme Court asks for a proper restoration form instead.
The SC advanced the hearing to Oct 28, before the Oct 30 deadline. The CJI said the Court is thinking of an order that will "take care of" it.
Bro, imagine your bank closes your account by mistake after 20 years.
You go to restore it.
The clerk gives you a form: "I have never had a bank account in my life."
"Sign karo, warna paisa nahi milega."
And if you sign, they can book you for fraud.
That's not a mistake. That's a trap with a stamp on it.
Modi ji, this is your "ease of living"?
Gyanesh Kumar ji, you cut the name, now you want the voter to sign away the truth too?
ECI, stop treating citizens as suspects 🔥🔥🔥
Extremely wise words by Shivshankar Menon, India's former Foreign Secretary and National Security Advisor.
Asked by the host what worries him about India - what is a burden of history for India - he replied that "there is such a thing as excessive pride in your past."
He explains that talking of "your glorious golden ages in the past" to "feel good about yourself" is ok - a normal aspect of building an identity for yourself - but "when you then carry it on into victimhood and into revenge for history" and when that becomes a driving force for today's actions, then it becomes "dangerous."
He takes the example of people in India speaking about "a thousand years of slavery" (meaning Muslim and then British rule) or of Chiang Kai-shek writing every night in the top right of his diary "never forget national humiliation" (I checked and he actually wrote 雪耻 - xuě chǐ - which means "avenge the humiliation": https://t.co/6y1P9HUMfC, he did it from 1928 until his last diary entry in July 1972).
It's a wise point in general: when you think about it, nationalism isn't necessarily destructive in and of itself. But it becomes so when you convince yourself as a nation or people that you are a victim and that there is a guilty party. Because, as Menon puts it, it makes you "stop dealing with reality as it is" and leads to "counterproductive policy and ideas."
All the more dangerous because it’s so easy: nothing easier as a people, or as the ruler of a nation, than to blame others for what’s wrong. It spares you the much harder work of looking at your own failings, and absolves the rulers of responsibility.
And the inverse is really hard: nothing harder when you have indeed been a victim than to resist turning that grievance into a political program, and to instead focus on what you can actually build today - which often involves working hand in hand with the guilty party.
Which is, incidentally, why what China did was so impressive. It could have turned national humiliation into policies of revenge and hatred but instead chose to define it largely as China's own mistake for having been weak enough that foreigners could take advantage of that (Xi Jinping himself defines it that way in his book: https://t.co/kmmdYdWSjm). Which is constructive, because then the objective isn't revenge but building yourself, and China did that working hand in hand with the West.
We’re seeing some version of victimhood drive policies in too many countries around the world. Europe is, sadly, a case in point: Russia and China have become the all-purpose explanation for almost every problem on the continent, from energy prices to deindustrialization. Very practical for EU leaders who never have to answer for their own choices...
It's a good rule of thumb to have: if any politician builds his message around blame, take it as a red flag. That's what you reach for when you won't build.

Fox News and some Zionist sites are accusing me of having played a part in last Saturday's Global Palestine Alliance London rally. Yes, I did. Proudly. A tiny part. I wish I had played a larger one. But I was in Athens and could only send this video - whose text I past below in the interests of full disclosure. Read/watch and judge:
Greetings from Athens to the UK Alliance for Palestine. Kudos to all of you for continuing to mobilise against our generation’s greatest crime, our generation’s genocide in Gaza and the systematic state-backed ethnic cleansing and ruthless land seizures in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
As I have said before, if this were the 1930s, we would have only one moral duty: to defend Jewish people from the Nazis. Today, we again have only one moral duty: to defend Palestinian people from Israel.
Friends, I am not going to finish this message of solidarity by caressing your ears. I am going to do the opposite. At the risk of upsetting you, I am going to suggest that we stop congratulating ourselves. So far, we have failed. The genocide, the ethnic cleansing, the white-washing of this century’s greatest crime is continuing despite our efforts.
Our governments remain utterly complicit. Even when they do some windowdressing, like Andy Burnham sanctioning exports from the Occupied Territories (as if Israel will brand them as such!), they only do it to ENSURE that there is no trade and arms embargo against Israel to force Israel to cease and desist from its genocidal practices. What PM Burnham has done was to take the wind out of our sails by lulling the majority into thinking that there has been a change when there hasn’t been.
Look at the way the media are still at it. Copying the playbook that demonised and vilified Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership of the Labour Party, for ‘insufficient support of Israel’s genocide’, they are applying the same playbook today against Zack Polanski and the Green Party.
Wherever we look – if we are honest – we see the evidence of our movement’s failure to dent Israel’s determination to complete its genocide and of our political and economic system’s to lend the Apartheid state a hand.
I know: Many of you are tired, after years of campaigning often at high personal cost. But now is not the time to feel the fatigue. Now is the time to do more. To do better. To end genocide, ethnic cleansing and land seizures across Palestine. To make it possible to imagine – not just as a slogan – a Palestine free of Apartheid.
