Ninguém me contou.
Caller: "Hi Dave. Long-time listener. First time caller."
Dave: "You are on the show. What is going on?"
Caller: "I have a revenue problem."
Dave: "Alright. Tell me about it."
Caller: "A lot of high-income people just left who pay a lot of tax."
Dave: "Why did they leave?"
Caller: "They said taxes were too high."
Dave: "And what did you say?"
Caller: "I told them bye."
Dave: "You told them bye."
Caller: "And I laughed."
Dave: "You laughed at your own revenue leaving."
Caller: "I thought they would be replaced."
Dave: "Were they?"
Caller: "Not exactly."
Dave: "So revenue is down."
Caller: "Yes."
Dave: "And spending."
Caller: "Going up."
Dave: "So you told the checkbook to leave, laughed while it walked out, and now you are surprised the account is empty."
Dave: "What is your role exactly?"
Caller: "I am the Mayor."
Dave: "Of what?"
Caller: "Seattle."
Dave: "Ma’am, the millionaires might have left, but the same math stayed."
Dear Mr. Pep Guardiola,
We have never met, and you likely don’t know me, but I have followed you closely for many years. You are the manager who still wants a tenth goal even after the ninth has gone in. You are also the man responsible for one of the most memorable days of my childhood, in 2009, your Barcelona side reduced me to tears so profound that my secondary school teacher marked me as absent because I couldn’t stop crying.
For a long time, I refused to accept you as the greatest of all time (GOAT). I believed, and still partly believe, that José Mourinho deserves that title. You built your success, in my eyes, more on assembling expensive squads than on pure development from within.
Yet the evidence has become harder to ignore. Your teams have won more, played more beautifully, and dominated for longer than almost anyone else in modern football. Over the years, you have steadily changed my mind.
Now I stand at a crossroads: I want to name you the undisputed GOAT among managers. But I cannot do so without one final condition, one simple, clear request.
Defeat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final.
Win the Premier League this season, and leave the UEFA Champions League to my beloved Chelsea.
If you can stop Arsenal from lifting the Carabao Cup and, more importantly, prevent them from winning the Premier League title, I will honour you in the most permanent way I know how: I will have your name tattooed on my body.
Please, do this for me.
With admiration, respect, and just a little bit of mischief,
Olivia 💞
Alan Pardew compares Estevão to Maradona:
🗣 "When you have got a player who can just stand the defender straight up and say, 'Well I'm going to take you on,' and he knows he's going to take him on and still beats him, then you know you've got a special player.
He's so quick, he's so close to the ground and he's got that kind of Maradona way that he manouvres the ball."
