If anybody is going on Question Time tonight ask Johnny Mercer how using a food bank when you earn £20,000 isn’t necessary.
But claiming all your essentials on expenses and paying your wife £40,000 when you earn £110,000 is.
RT and we might make him squirm..
If you are called by a scammer and asked to press a button (eg press 1 to...) it is impossible for you to be charged a premium rate call.
Many said they were worried about this, having had similar calls to the HMRC scam one I tweeted about yesterday. So I wanted to clear it up (and I've double checked with Ofgem).
However if you call them, or if you click to call back after they've left a voicemail or from a missed call, you may be charged a premium rate. So the best thing if you're in any doubt is exercise caution and not engage.
Frankly anyone calling you out of the blue to tell you you must take urgent or secret financial (or tech) action is almost certainly a criminal scammer (common ones are from HMRC, Microsoft, delivery firms, NHS). Be very wary.
Any reputable organisation will have a way you can contact them (find their number independently, don't use one from the potential scam call) to check if the call is real, if you're worried.
These people are clever, nasty, conscience-less criminals who prey on inattention, fear and vulnerability. The sooner laws are tightened to stop them having access to mass calling, and social media sites, the better.

Not wages - profits.
Not workers - bosses.
Rishi Sunak has claimed that voters are fine with him spending £50,000 a day on this ridiculously large private jet.
If you aren’t fine, RT and tell him to spend his own £720,000,000.
Where is his pay restraint?
Also like if you want him to f** off.
So the government won’t have a representative on @bbcquestiontime tonight. Quite something that seven years on from their flagship “achievement” they can’t face an audience made up entirely of people who voted for it. Anyone would think they were frit as Maggie used to say
Tonight @bbcquestiontime has an audience entirely made up of people who voted for Brexit.
Also tonight....Tories aren't putting anyone on the panel.
This wk many Tory cowardly MPs abstained from the vote about Johnson & now they can't even face the people they lied to!!
The lowest bunch of gaslighting politicians in history
Labour has put out its mortgage policy today, which in parts seems to mirror extremely closely what I've long been suggesting about forbearance help being reversable and no credit score impact. This is also what I hope to see govt pursue with banks as well as stopping them margin boosting.
Rishi Sunak tells an IKEA worker, whose family is struggling to get treatment on the NHS, that he has a "really, really good plan" to solve the problem, which involves "being a bit clever about how we do things."
