Today in Odungura, Idupa Parish, I was honoured to receive Papa Bishop Odongo Hosea?and spend a wonderful moment with our people.
I also had an opportunity to engage with the Ocapa Boda Boda community, listening to their concerns and sharing ideas on matters affecting their daily lives and livelihoods.
I appreciate the warm reception and the spirit of togetherness shown by everyone. Such engagements strengthen our shared commitment to the development and wellbeing of our communities.
Ekeutu Serere Nepepe.
Hon. Acom Esther Lucy
During today’s @Parliament_Ug plenary sitting, I called upon the Government to upgrade Serere Health Centre IV to a district hospital and Pingire Health Centre III to Health Centre IV to improve access to quality healthcare.
In my second submission, I requested the Government to rehabilitate, equip, expand and upgrade Olio Polytechnic, since Serere District has no government technical institute. This will equip our young people with practical skills and create employment opportunities.
I welcome the positive assurance from Hon. @OgwangOgwang that the Government is ready to support the development of Olio Polytechnic into a bigger technical institute in Serere district.
I remain committed to advocating for better healthcare, education and opportunities for the people of Serere.

An update.
Not braggadocio, though we don’t believe government institutions should win in silence.
I took office just over three months ago.
We had no camera at the Uganda Media Centre, save for a decade-old kind donation from the Chinese.
No still cameras either.
Things are different now.
We now have the best of the best kit! And we are still adding to it.
We have a proper production arm. Photographers, video and audio editors, drone pilots, directors, producers.
For the first time we can also go live from anywhere in the country.
We have built a regional and global network that cuts across newsrooms, research, thought leadership and security.
Our ambition is to build the most efficient, responsive and effective government communications service on the continent.
Our posture?
This is not PR or marketing.
It’s nation building.
Today, while inspecting a bridge project in Bulambuli Town Council under our national “Expose the Corrupt in Local Government” campaign, we uncovered serious irregularities.
The bridge that was constructed is only about half the size of what was specified in the approved Bill of Quantities (BOQ). Even more disturbing, the contractor used black soil as the foundation and final connecting layer instead of the required hardcore and swamp reinforcement materials, in complete disregard of the approved engineering specifications.
These actions have caused Government an estimated loss of UGX 500 million and represent a blatant misuse of public funds.
The Bulambuli Town Council Engineer and the Town Clerk have fled and are currently on the run. They will be apprehended and held accountable, together with anyone else found to have participated in this fraud.
This is exactly why we launched the “Expose the Corrupt in Local Government” campaign. Those who steal from the people and compromise public infrastructure will face the full force of the law. Every shilling of taxpayers’ money must work for Ugandans.
@TimKalyegira You are one of the few people who have internalized the African problem and is actually trying to propose a solution which requires us to have a serious mindset shift.
I am pleased to have facilitated the training of hundreds of women in Kateta Sub-county Serere District on the construction and use of energy-saving stoves. This initiative will help reduce firewood consumption, protect our environment, and improve household livelihoods. Empowering women with practical skills remains central to sustainable community development.
“When we empower a woman with knowledge and skills, we empower an entire community.”
Hon. Esther Lucy Acom - Ajokotau
I wonder which AI tools Africans will rely on if the US government restricts domestic AI companies from serving Foreigners.
The entire continent is lagging behind, merely providing training data to existing players while locking itself out of the market.
@TimKalyegira As an African, statehood is a new concept . Tribe,Chiefdom and Kingdom was implanted in an African mind for thousands of years . Statehood is a new concept -barely 150 years old .
