From the get go, the contract for the construction of the coastal highway has been very problematic. Too many knotty issues around it, and no one is offering any reasonable explanation for all the very valid concerns raised.
Since inception, this coastal road project has generated too many complaints and controversies. Most of which are valid, and should be brought to the front burner, for the greater good.
1. There was no known budgetary allocations for it. 1 trillion Naira have been disbursed already with the intent of expending 15 trillion Naira on the project.
2. No known contact bidding before implementation. This contravenes the BPE act.
3. There is an obvious conflict of interest; the President’s son sits on the board of the company and the owner is the President’s close confidant. Allegedly. Seyi Tinubu is a director on the board of CDK Integrated Industries, a subsidiary of the Chagoury Group, which is also the parent company of Hitech Construction Company Ltd.
4. This company do not have the requisite capacity for the construction of such a complex road network.
5. The Company have been handling a road project in Lagos for years now and is yet to complete it.
6. The actual funding method of the project is publicly disclosed.
