I guess they consolidated what existed already.
But yeah if you care to be GDPR-compliant, collecting consent for cookies is required.

@dvassallo @swdev_pa The EU directive is transposed into national laws of each EU country, that’s how it works here.

So yeah it’s a real pain in the a** and ruins the UX but you could indeed get fined… theoretically.
If you’re big enough that X% of your turnover is interesting I guess ^^
