When asked to draw a scientist, school-age kids in the United States are increasingly sketching women, according to a study from 2018.

This is a sweet burying beetle larva. Each instar smells different, and mothers respond to the scent during feeding. Congrats to Jacky Sahm on publishing the third chapter of her PhD thesis: The scent of offspring @BehavEcol#buryingbeetles

Coeur d’Alene Salamanders are primarily found in close proximity to rocky streams and damp, fissured outcroppings in northern Idaho, NW Montana and SE British Columbia, west of the Rocky Mountains. I was able to find a few of these salamanders in such habitat on a recent trip.
I got interviewed by @ligaze for Forbes magazine! I'm very grateful for the opportunity to share my work, and especially for the emphasis on the importance of science by and for the Global South—a science born frm both the blessings and challenges of being from biodiverse regions
Back from my yearly pilgrimage to visit the largest salamanders in the Americas. There is no other feeling like watching a massive hellbender crawl along the bottom of the stream as the current causes its loose skin to flutter. Like being transported to a different time.
Want to know more about our study on habitat selection in dyeing #poisonfrogs? Have a look at our new #preprint, led by @eco_mayer 👉 https://t.co/nQkM6iuKAb We show that despite huge variation in size and colour patterns, habitat selection is similar across populations (1/3)
The @ssarherps DEI Committee's third 'applying to grad school' workshop -- this time focused on preparing your application materials -- will be held on Friday, September 20, from 3:00 - 4:30 pm ET.

Very interesting paper recently out of the Feldman lab at UNR https://t.co/UAo6D1su9I -- showing that 2/3 species of garter snakes demonstrate faster elimination of TTX in resistant populations. Toxicokinetics can reveal a lot about how animals deal with toxins!
The first part of our @evoecology Special Issue on #poisonfrogs is out at last! Bonus: a beautiful cover with illustrations done by @LiaSchlippe 😍 BIG thanks to the many reviewers whose work was crucial for the SI to be a reality 🙌 @fvargas_salinas
