@frazierapproves Pretty much all Halloween candy is low grade trash. Nostalgia aside, no adult should be eating that junk. If you're going to ruin your health there are better options.
@ilikesleep@illyrias I ordered that exactly once. The first cut into it spread its foul nature all over the plate. 6 year old Asia devoured the entire dish with glee.
@RikAdamski Spent a year teaching 7th/8th at 35th/California in 1995. Half of the class had never been downtown! Took them on a cheap day-long field trip via bus 35 & bus 60. Walked the mag mile with them, took them to FAO Schwarz (RIP), and bought them each a book at a now closed bookstore.
New low point in my life: Spent $300 to take a scenic train to nowhere in Arizona and saw some boomers sing along with Kenny Rogers "Gotta know when to hold 'em".
Every town loves to claim they're “the best city to raise a family.”
But they're lying.
Most towns are terrible places to raise a family.
Because most places are not designed to live in.
They’re designed to consume.
🧵 Here are 7 things family-friendly cities should have:
@andrealaurion Libby and dialup are my 2 fav pandemic apps. Listening to audiobooks 40+hrs/wk for free and talking to somewhat enlightened randos every day has kept me sane.
@GlypheNotes @BucsDugout Another antecdote: growing up a Cubs fan in Chicago, I got so sick of listening to Harry Carrey's drunken antics and Rob Santo's babbling incoherence that I gave up on the Cubs and became a White Sox fan until I moved here.
@GlypheNotes @BucsDugout I got into Pirates baseball from 2011-2018 and watched or listened to nearly every game. I watched the 2020 opener, and not a single other game last season. I'll be back around once they put a semi-competitive team back on the field, but it could be a while.
