Newly photographed portrait of Mercury on this gorgeous Roman Republican denarius serratus. The coin was minted in 82 BC by the moneyer Gaius Mamilius Limetanus who, in typical fashion, claimed descent from Odysseus, and by extension his great-great grandfather, Mercury himself.
