According to court testimony, my daughter Katie's killer could not read, write, or speak English or Spanish and had no formal education.
Yet he was issued an Illinois driver's license and allowed to drive on our roads.

Illinois families deserve answers.
How was he tested?
In what language?
What documents were accepted?
What safeguards were in place?

We need full transparency and a complete accounting of this process before more families suffer tragedies like ours.

If Illinois officials won't provide answers, can you or @TheJusticeDept help ensure accountability and restore public trust?

As per usual, neither the races of the suspects nor victims are disclosed because they are almost assuredly black (the Roseland neighborhood is 90%+ black--another glaring consequence of 100 years of one party rule is Chicago is the most de facto racially segregated big city in America).

This is mainly a comment on the brain-eating virus that is identitarianism. If the shooters were white, well, you know. If the victims were white, there would already be a GoFundMe set up for the shooters' legal defense.

Since neither is likely the case, the violence is forgotten even faster than the 13 people who are lucky to be alive.

The identitarians feign empathy and yet only care about people who are mowed down in a lawless city if their plight presents a political opportunity.

Identarianism is not only synonymous with Neo-Marxism and racism but also a callous disregard for human life, particularly the lives of the humans they claim to represent.

I’ve never understood that.
What is it, if not politics?

This wasn’t random.
This wasn’t fate.
It wasn’t unavoidable.

It was the result of policy choices.
Made by people in power for self-serving purposes.

At the federal level during the Biden–Mayorkas years, and here in Illinois under Governor JB Pritzker, those choices shaped the environment that made these tragedies possible.

So what, exactly, am I supposed to separate?

The outcome from the decisions that led to Katie being killed innocently on sanctuary Illinois streets?

Ignore the @govpritzker policies that failed?
Avoid naming the leaders responsible, @AliMayorkas and @GovPritzker along with @JoeBiden ?

That’s not honesty. That’s avoidance.

And candidly, I suspect many of the people insisting I “not make it political” supported, defended, or minimized the mass migration policies that helped create this environment in the first place.

Real stories of pain and loss force a confrontation with the human consequences of those reckless decisions and that’s uncomfortable for people whose ideology or party loyalty is tied to defending them.

It’s easier to ask grieving families to stay quiet than to honestly examine the damage these policies have caused.

Policy creates environment.
Environment shapes outcomes.
Outcomes create victims.
That’s the chain.

In Illinois, that environment was shaped by decisions made under Governor JB Pritzker. Decisions that lowered accountability and increased risk.

And even now, there is zero accountability.

Pritzker governs through political pressure, institutional influence, and the insulation that immense inherited wealth provides.
The broader political and activist networks surrounding these policies deserve far more scrutiny than they receive.

And when those policies produce poor outcomes, they aren’t reevaluated.

They’re defended. Reframed. Politicized.

Because admitting failure carries a political cost.

Katie paid the real one.
Her death wasn’t abstract.
It was preventable.

And I won’t separate politics from the consequences it creates.

Because that’s exactly how more victims are made.
