“In Finland, the # of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.” https://t.co/EH3reri9lz
We’re at our wisest when we combine our minds into something greater through the magic of vigorous, fearless discourse. We’re at our most foolish when we start treating ideas as sacred or taboo and succumb to groupthink. Look for the signs of groupthink and push back against it.
We can learn from the great achievements of Martin Luther King Jr. to recognize that non-violence is the best long-term approach to redressing injustice. If the twentieth century was a century of violence, let us make the twenty-first a century of dialogue.
From afar, we admire talent. Up close, what counts most is character.
You can impress people with your skills, but you earn their trust by standing for something greater than yourself.
There is no higher achievement than treating others kindly and living with integrity.
@ConceptualJames Exploiting the tragedy of Jews who were humiliated, marked with a yellow star, isolated, starved, dehumanized, and murdered in ghettos during the Holocaust in a debate about vaccination that saves human lives during pandemic is shameful. It's a sad symptom of moral decay.
The tragedy of Auschwitz is a warning against the power of human hatred.
It’s our common duty to remember & learn.
Help us please to commemorate the victims & educate people about the history of Auschwitz.

We’re social creatures, we depend on each other, which is why we need a sense of concern for others’ well-being. Compassion is what’s important and you don’t have to be religious to practise it. Practising compassion here and now—living a meaningful life—is what is most important
If we make consistent effort, based on proper education, we can change the world. We are selfish, that’s natural, but we need to be wisely selfish, not foolishly selfish. We have to concern ourselves more with others’ well-being, that’s the way to be wisely selfish.
In order to develop our mind, we must look at a deeper level. Everyone seeks happiness, joyfulness, but from outside—from money, from power, from big car, from big house. Most people never pay much attention to the ultimate source of a happy life, which is inside, not outside.
Since 2016, I've had conversations with ~5000 design leaders at 200+ dinners and ~100 virtual events, and lots of slack threads. I also helped drive some industry benchmarking reports.
I finally synthesized all the notes.
A thread on lessons learned about design leadership. 🧵
I don’t like formality. There’s no formality when we’re born and none when we die. In between we should treat each other as brothers and sisters because we all want to live a happy life. This is our common purpose and our right.
If you are motivated by a wish to help on the basis of kindness, compassion and respect, then you can do any kind of work, in any field, and function more effectively with less fear or worry, not being afraid of what others think or whether you will ultimately reach your goal.
Happy day for me. Several people I care a lot about got the COVID vaccine today, overcoming some hesitancy. What do I say to my patients who are unsure about the vaccine? This:
Congratulations on sharing your true self, @lukeprokop_6, and thank you for taking this step that will help countless others who follow your lead. 🏳️🌈
