David Sinclair plans to test whole-body rejuvenation drugs in the XPrize competition
The next step in the youth quest is a technology called chemical reprogramming.

@k_storoschuk When are your papers on your study of Zone 2 training (the new study, not the now-famous review) and on lactate as a measure of mitochondrial health coming out?
@EricTopol This article borders on libel. Attia has never suggested "that some shadowy cabal of elites is hiding" the keys to good health, and does not "make money from lawsuits against vaccine companies." In fact, he has dedicated multiple podcasts to refuting antivaxx nonsense.
@sandypaul1413@deniseminger I'm surprised to hear that. Partially hydrogenated vegetable oils are essentially banned in the US and Canada, and the EU has a limit of 2 grams trans fat per 100 grams of fat which is effectively a ban.
@deniseminger The objection that the intervention lowered total cholesterol and therefore can't have had much trans fat seems cogent. Yes, trans fats could lower HDL-C even as they raise LDL-C, but is it really plausible that it could do it so much as to lead to a net reduction in TC?
@ValerieAnne1970 1. This study in American centenarians found they have LOW total cholesterol https://t.co/JrbT488nBd 2. LDL, not total cholesterol, is the analyte of interest for ASCVD risk.
@arunkumar3112 This study is specifically of LDL in elderly people. As is well-known, LDL levels (& blood pressure, & BMI) decline in the last 10 y of life, making low levels falsely appear good. The proper study design is to look at long-term outcomes in people with low LDL from midlife on.
@GarySmithInKY@arunkumar3112 "Never can get it that low:" have you tried all the lipid-lowering therapies? A statin, and even more so a PCSK9 inhibitor, should easily reach that target.
2 NBC journalists take @ElysiumHQ's epigenetic age estimator, take their full suite of supplements for 7 months. On re-test, one's estimated age gets worse(better-than-chronological estimate at baseline gets CLOSER to chron age), other one's stays the same https://t.co/NAnKmNV6Uc
@LookingAtYouM8@ElieJarrougeMD I am (again) believing large, randomized, placebo-controlled trials with multiple agents that lower LDL via different mechanisms and all lower MACE, plus Mendelian randomization. Epi is a cherry on top, and run by academics, not pharma.
@LookingAtYouM8@ElieJarrougeMD Not "without question:" there is extensive scientific documentation, including large RCTs, and work by independent scientists.
@LookingAtYouM8@ElieJarrougeMD Big Pharma has produced four classes of drugs that lower LDL via different mechanisms, and they all lower MACE in large RCTs. Plus Mendelian randomization. This debate is over.
@AndrewKaufmanMD You made this up. This question has been scientifically tested. The worst you can say is that it doesn't *increase* survivorship https://t.co/HZpFc6w6hr
