Day 17. Not on road stomping yet. Windscreen is smashed. Can’t cross the border into Namibia until it’s fixed. Closest place can’t fix it till tomorrow at the earliest.
I’ve got 2 options.
1. Take a rest day
2. Cross into Namibia by myself.
Option 1 is off the table.
Option 2 is massively problematic. Here’s why⬇️
The other side of the border in Namibia is open desert. Boiling sun. No where to resupply water or food. No where to stop.
I would run out of water within 2 hours of running. There would then be a potential 48 hour+ wait to be re supplied when the boys cross in the van.
Playing fast and loose with dying of dehydration. Add in that there is no signal at all. Once I’m in, no easy way out.
The game plan.
Cross the border this evening. When the sun goes down, the temperature drops.
Take a big bag. Load up. Walk the km’s overnight to minimise sweating and preserve my water. Still get another brick in the wall.
Adapt and overcome is the name of the game.
See you on the other side🫡
Because the queen died, we will not be playing our league game against Byron House tomorrow morning at 10.30am.
We will instead be aiming to play a friendly tomorrow morning, against Byron House, kick-off 10.30am.
A guy my age was telling me how happy he was that his wife just gave birth to their fourth child then was like “sorry, don’t mean to brag” and it’s like, oh no worries, your life literally sounds terrible to me
