@DomTech11 @DAllen_94 @AdamELID@SocialMediaCou3 It's time to do some ligh researh in the college catalog and see if I can find some applicable classes. Learning about tech that isn't always from an educators perspective will be refreshing. Maybe I'll feel like a fish out of water! #EDU6323
After reading the NMC Horizon report, I want to advocate for the expansion of class offerings in the eLID concentration. I would like exposure to AI/Machine learning educational applications, adaptive learning technologies, and XR & Haptics technology. #EDU6323
@FrankieCapps This isn't exactly what you described, but it reminded me of this scene from WALLE. The future of consumerism. Advertisements littered everywhere. #EDU6323
@DAllen_94 @FrankieCapps Now what I hope is for high school students to earn microcredentials alongside their HS diploma. Imagine entering higher ed. with a greater skill set. There is a push for CTE in high school, but there are so few partner schools. Online learning can bridge these gaps. #EDU6323
@DomTech11 Thank you for the suggestion, I will reach out to Dr. Mahler. That is exciting to know we have access to other departments! Is there AI/machine learning available elsewhere? Anyone familiar with NEU can point me in the right direction. #EDU6323
I was blown away by Rapien’s AR demo. My only experience with AR like experiences is photo filters and Pokémon Go. Raipen’s demo provided an educational application of AR. I want to try! I get motion sickness when using VR headsets, perhaps AR/XR will be less nauseating? #EDU6323
The potential for VR/AR/XR in learning is an exciting possibility. I’d be interested to see its applications to K-12 math learning. A quick Google search produced: https://t.co/FKoZJwHHfd Right now, cost limits access to this tech in education. Can I justify the cost? #EDU6323
@pjbishop93 Is the polling feature in Zoom not sufficient for these types of formative assessments? I’ve only been exposed to that feature in trainings that included polls for the participants. I was able to both concentrate on presentation and answer the poll. #EDU6323
@pjbishop93@AdamELID I’m curious how this will work for online learning. My only experience with Kahoot! was using as an in-class tool where if more than 25% of students answered a question incorrectly, I’d review the question with student collaboration. I'd like to do the same online. #EDU6323
@LindaEl22812295@PearDeck The survey was anonymous, but if staff or student needed immediate help, resources were included in the survey of who to contact right away. Including open ended questions asking why we chose our responses provided some data on what needed improvement or was working. #EDU6323
I plan to use polls in two ways. First, I’d like to know about my student's mental and emotional health from week to week. Second, I will use polling during synchronous and asynchronous math learning. Platforms like @PearDeck offer different types of polling options. #EDU6323
@LindaEl22812295@PearDeck During the beginning of the pandemic, my job’s HR dept. would send out weekly emotional checks both to staff and students. They would gather this data and share with the school site. In the survey, there were resources if you were experiencing a mental health emergency. #EDU6323
@CafarelliNicole @PearDeck Using the Pear Deck presentation mode, I can poll students and present anonymous data, but on the teacher dashboard I can see who is answering. For mental and emotional health checks, I want to know the students identity. #EDU6323
If we consider polling to be a part of a student’s “mastery experience”, I would say it does impact students by potentially raising self-efficacy through this low stakes method. Read this study on polling and intrinsic motivation: https://t.co/pFa4VvEL5W

@BethOber1@AnnalizaS3 How do you screen record on a tablet? I have an iPad with a stylus pen, but I can't figure out how to record my presentation. I'm trying to figure out the best way to create math presentations where I can narrate as I write. More research is required! #EDU6323
@kristinburgh@AdamELID@SocialMediaCou3 @DAllen_94 @FrankieCapps I wonder if microcredentials and badges is an option that can replace higher education for some or offer greater accessibility in terms of affordability if credits can transfer. Thoughts? #EDU6323
@AdamELID@SocialMediaCou3 @DAllen_94 @FrankieCapps What I inferred from Horn was that education wasn’t meeting the need to produce a high skills workforce referred to as the “skills gap”. Is traditional higher education the solution for the gap or should we be looking for alternative pathways like Coursera? #EDU6323
