It is also so important to understand that feminism isn’t simply fighting for the white, North-American woman’s rights. It’s fighting for all genders of all religions and all sexualities all around the world. Either we fight for everyone or we fight for no one at all. #lesson10

Many important authors and scholars in the feminist community began their careers through online blogs where they discussed important feminist issues. This goes to show how the internet has helped give a voice to people who wanted to make a difference. #lesson10

I personally follow quite a few feminist blogs and pages on Facebook and Instagram because I enjoy reading about important news happening around the world concerning women’s rights and equality. #lesson10

Social media has greatly helped the feminist movement in that women and men from all around the world that easily share thoughts and ideas, and educate each other on the importance of equality. #lesson10

The #metoo movement was a great way to get people talking about such an important topic and make people feel like they were not alone in their situation. #lesson10

@JBergstaller Exactly, if it’s just close friends it may not seem as bad. But I’m sure a lot of people have peers or colleagues or sometimes just friends of friends, and that’s when it gets bad!

Am I the only one who finds the “map” feature on Snapchat extremely creepy? You can literally find out where any of your Snapchat friends are at any given time. I always keep my location settings turned off. #lesson9

I think it is most important to teach teenagers that no matter how “private” they try to keep their social media accounts, simply having one makes their life public. #lesson9

@JustinZ47897150 I definitely agree with this, I always try to keep the same password and change one or two letters/numbers and alternate!

We were taught how to come up with passwords that were less likely to be hacked by using a mix of letters and numbers or making sure our password wasn’t a legible word or phrase. I still think about that when coming up with new passwords for my online accounts! #lesson9

I agree! This is so important to teach kids, especially teenagers.

To increase awareness of privacy , I think schools should have classes or workshops available teaching students how to stay safe on the internet and talk to them about the consequences, with examples of things that have actually happened, to really get it through to them #lesson9
