Dear @Nigeria_NMC
I have one simple question:
Why do you need 6months to verify a certificate that you issued yourself to nurses in Nigeria?
Are you a vendor?
If you need 6month to verify a document you gave out yourself, again I want to ask: are you a legitimate council or a roadside certificate vendor?
Please help me ask @Nigeria_NMC
Are you a vendor?
By the way,
Let me quickly explain something to everyone of you especially those of you saying nothing now. And you can go and write this down.
If the government succeeds in tactically tying the nurses down for 5years after graduation from university- they are coming next for doctors, lawyers, engineers, physiotherapists, accountants, dentists, pharmacists, and everyone who belongs to a profession that has a professional body.
They will use your council to tie you down unwillingly for years in a system and to a country you don’t want to be in.
If you think this is “the problem of the nurses”, then you are shortsighted and mentally myopic, because you are next.
They have come for the nurses,
But you have said nothing because you are not a nurse.
Next they will come for the doctors and you will say nothing because you are not a doctor. And on and on they will continue- but you will continue to say nothing.
Just remember:
By the time they come for you, there will be nobody left to speak for you- because by then, they will have captured everybody.

And on a final note:
The reason why we all have to speak up and resist the blatant oppression of these nurses is because in the end, the person who actually suffers is the patient and the populace.
And I will explain to you why.
The last thing you want is a frustrated, unmotivated and terrorised nurse to be attending to you or your loved ones at a time of illness.
The chances of making mistakes are higher, the probability of poor nursing care is higher and the chances that patients will suffer tremendously when nurses are forced to work in inhumane conditions against their will.
So it is not just the nurses that must resist this council legislation- it is all of us. Every single one of us.
Me. You. Everyone.

To be clear:
These nurses did NOT go to school for free. Their education is NOT free. A lot of these nurses had to take loans and sometimes even sell properties just to pay school fees, buy textbooks, pay rent, among many other expenses that comes with higher education.
For the government or the council of nursing to introduce punitive restrictive and oppressive legislation so as to tactically tie these nurses down in the country is completely abysmal and totally unacceptable.
We have to be very clear on this.
The government or council can only tie down graduates IF the government provided free education and IF the said graduates signed a bond tying them to the country.
In the clear absence of any such agreement, utilising the back door to introduce lunatic policies to derail the future plans of these young nurses is totally appalling and the council should actually be very ashamed of itself for being a willing tool for the evil machinations of a useless government that is determined to wreck the lives of its own young people.
Everyone with conscience and a soul must wholeheartedly join the nurses to resist this madness and call it out for what it is.
“It is none of my business how the nursing council chooses to treat nurses”. Oh well it is your business actually and I will explain to you why:
The reason why we all have to speak up and resist the blatant oppression of these nurses by their council forcing them to slave 2years in a system against their will and wishes is because in the end, the person who actually suffers is the patients and the populace. That’s you and me.
And I will explain to you more:
The last thing you want is a frustrated, unmotivated and terrorised nurse to be attending to you or your loved ones at a time of illness.
The chances of making mistakes are higher, the probability of poor nursing care is higher and the chances that patients will suffer tremendously when nurses are forced to work in inhumane conditions against their will.

The nursing council of Nigeria has announced that all nurses must work for at least two years before they can have their documents processed if they plan to relocate abroad for work.
In my view, this is wrong, this is oppressive and it is totally unacceptable.
Nobody should be forced to stay or work in a country they do not want to.
It sounds like the government is using the council to force nurses to stay rather than sit down with the nurses to address the actual reasons why they are leaving the country.
Rather than pay nurses better;
Rather than make nursing education more accessible and attractive to many people; Rather than make nursing practice more enjoyable and fulfilling for nurses;
Their own nursing council is putting up lunatic legislation to drive its own nurses into frustration and depression.
Anyway, this is my own personal view that should the nurses decide to fight this in a law court and resist this clear madness, they wholeheartedly and completely have my complete support.
Please repost if you agree!
One good thing that keeps me motivated in this profession is that we aren't just working to earn a living, we are touching lives.
Glad to be a nurse 🥰
What keeps you motivated daily in your profession, may I know ☺️👇
