The underlying cause of the conflict in #Artsakh was the systemic discrimination against #Armenia|ns, violation of their rights & injustice. In 1977, @nytimes described it as “cultural oppression, economic discrimination and other ethnic disadvantages.”

[Leonid Ragozin @leonidragozin]

Dark symbolism in that Nagorno-Karabakh exodus coincides with a truly dangerous escalation in Kosovo. No one will be able to claim any moral heights after Armenians are expelled from their homes. More dangerously though, it’s a gloves-off moment for everyone involved.

I put subtitles to a short section of yesterday's TV performance about the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.

So here it is.

[Senator Gary Peters @SenGaryPeters]

The situation in Nagorno-Karabakh is dire. The Aliyev regime must allow international observers inside now so the world can see exactly what is happening.

I viewed the brutal blockade at the Lachin corridor with Gov. Ghukasyan & @USAmbYerevan, and stand with the Armenian people.

[Secretary Antony Blinken @SecBlinken]

I spoke to Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan today to express our concern for the protection of the rights and security of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh. The United States will continue its steadfast support for Armenia and its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Take a listen to Laura Zarougian's new song Cairo. Loved it!

The United States is deeply disturbed by recent reports of Azerbaijani soldiers executing unarmed Armenian prisoners. We call for a full and impartial investigation. Those responsible for any atrocities must be held to account.

[Jake Hanrahan @Jake_Hanrahan]

This footage of Azerbaijani troops executing Armenian POWs with such excitement is honestly similar to ISIS frontline videos from 2017. Disgusting and depraved.

[Neil Hauer @NeilPHauer]

There is a new video of Azerbaijani soldiers executing Armenian prisoners they have just captured. The Armenian POWs are fully healthy and are gunned down in front of several dozen Azerbaijani soldiers. This is likely from Azerbaijan's September 13-14 assault into Armenia.

[Toivo Klaar @ToivoKlaar]

Another horrible video has emerged of Armenian prisoners of war apparently being executed. If this video is proven to be authentic then this is a war crime that needs to be investigated and the perpetrators punished.

[Olya Yordanyan @OlyaYor]

@aniboghoss Totally! Abovyan can be another alternative.

[Senate Foreign Relations Committee @SFRCdems]

Horrified by Azerbaijani forces' recent aggression toward Armenia & callous assaults on civilian infrastructure. As I wrote to @SecBlinken, the US cannot condone this authoritarian brutality.
We must promptly halt ALL security assistance to Azerbaijan.

Yes, these countries have the power to do so.

[Sara Anjargolian @SaraAnjargolian]

As the U.S. & several European governments issue security warnings today of impending attacks on #Armenia by #Azerbaijan those same governments CAN STOP the attempted annihilation of a free, independent, democratic nation from the world map. Sanction Azerbaijan sanction them now.

[Olya Yordanyan @OlyaYor]

@SoggyNoggie @stufankjian @nytimes I think this is more caused by the complexity of conflict reporting, especially when an outlet doesn’t have a correspondent on the ground. And as Scout said, the lack of fact-checking.

[Marina Kaljurand MEP @MarinaKaljurand]

I strongly condem last night's large-scale military attack by Azerbaijan against multiple targets in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

I call on the international community, in particular the EU 🇪🇺, to meet this unacceptable use of force with an unequivocal response.

[Karena Avedissian @KarenaAv]

We told you

[Raffi Joe Wartanian @RaffiJo]

Further evidence of the Azerbaijani government's campaign of erasing Armenian history, culture, and identity. They join Turkey's government in this genocidal project.

[Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention @LemkinInstitute]

We condemn the war of aggression that #Azerbaijan is committing against the Republic of #Armenia & #Armenian people. Despite agreements for a #ceasefire, Azerbaijan’s general rhetoric by its government indicates a continuous intent to destroy Armenian identity & territory. 1/10
