This was Messi in 2016:
“For me, the national team is over. I think it’s over for me with the national team. It’s not for me. I’ve done all I can. It hurts not to be a champion. It’s been four finals. I tried everything possible. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. I wanted it more than anyone.”
That was your “humble” Messi after losing to Chile o. Nothing like "We tried" or "The boys tried" o.
Messi could do or say anything. It is when it comes to Ronaldo that you draw the line.
At this point, it is no longer an agenda. It is beginning to look like personal hatred. What exactly did Ronaldo do to you, Mr Toby? 😂
Cristiano Ronaldo had TWO forward passes played to him at the World Cup.
1. His second goal against Uzbekistan
2. The offside goal against Croatia.
Guess who will be blamed? Guess who the fingers will be pointed to? Portugals golden generation are nothing but a bunch of spineless cowards.
Every European newspaper lately:
“Russia is losing this war. Their economy is weeks from collapse. Their defences are crumbling. Putin is set to be ousted in a palace coup. They’re losing 74 trillion soldiers a month.
…and unless we spend another €300 bazillion on defence, they’ll conquer all of Europe.”
Best World Cup ever. Storm delayed games, hydration breaks, fans refused visas, Iranians treated like vermin, referees refused entry, cops kicking off over players taking pictures with kids, Infantino crying it in for Argentina and now a pedo bending the rules. Good job👍
“I would call him Napoleon, but Napoleon made his way to empire over broken oaths and through a sea of blood. This man never broke his word. I would call him Cromwell, but Cromwell was only a soldier, and the state he founded went down with him into his grave. I would call him Washington, but the great Virginian held slaves. This man risked his empire rather than permit the slave trade in the humblest village of his dominions. You think me a fanatic, for you read history, not with your eyes, but with your prejudices. But fifty years hence, when Truth gets a hearing, the Muse of history will put Phocion for the Greek, Brutus for the Roman, Hampden for the English, La Fayette for France, choose Washington as the bright, consummate flower of our earlier civilization, then, dipping her pen in the sunlight, will write in the clear blue, above them all, the name of the soldier, the statesman, the martyr, Toussaint L’Ouverture.”

@Oni_Okun Hope it's not this brain you use to cross road. They didn't represent Nigeria in Rome. This is not the IMO. At least get the facts right before bigotry clouds your judgement.
@Oni_Okun@_lanrewaju_ Because You and the guy are idiots. They did not take Nigeria's slots. They don't even have the capacity to do that only the NMC is in contact with IMO. You could have taken your younger brother to participate in Rome because there you don't represent your country.
Nice write up. Little correction on point 3 and the one after point 4, they're not representing Nigeria, they're going as individuals. Anyone can register for the ISTEM Olympiad. There are over 50 contestants from Nigeria there (Graceland Int'l School Rivers State, Ambassadors College Ogun State, Bishop Okoye Secondary School Rivers State, Charles Dale Memorial Secondary School Rivers State etc all sent significant number students there).
The Olympiad that Nigeria wasn't able to go to is International Mathematical Olympiad. Different organisers and more prestigious. Every country has 6 slots and selection process is through the National Olympiads organised by NMC, not the competition that NTIC organised in collaboration with NMC. I have been selected in the past to represent Nigeria at the IMO, so have several other instructors at @SpecialMaths as well, so either way, the Yoruba boy in question was not selected for this IMO (as he was a winner in the competition organised by NTIC and not the one organised by NMC). The people that were selected through the national process but couldn't go were Agbo Adoga, Ikenna Enwere, Damaris Oyerinde etc.
I have also spoken about this here: https://t.co/SnNmSClOZm
Thank you for your write up and efforts to enlighten the public though, it's much appreciated.
So, I have been asked to comment as to HOW match-fixing/"rigging" occurs at this level of the game. It's via an accumulation of attritional factors against the disfavored team, and an accumulation of positive factors for the favored teams. Here's how:
1. One of the single biggest predictors of success in the world cup is RECOVERY. Physical gap in the game is the biggest determinant of success in the KOs.
- Favorable match schedule (giving enough time for rest).
- Favorable travel schedule (some teams barely travel, no circadian rhythm disruption)
These have HUGE compounding effects later in the competition because they reduce accumulation of fatigue.
2. Favorable refereeing. How? Well, the referees are carefully selected for a match and there are powerful incentives for refs to tow the "company (FIFA) line". Their promotion, payout (which games they get to officiate), and future career rests entirely in the hand of FIFA's selection. Don't expect a ref that gives a red card to Messi at the 10th minute to ever get the chance of refereeing later KOs/final - which means he might be missing out on nearly 500k in total earning depending on number of matches - and that is not to speak of his future in the sport.
Secondly, every ref is vetted and their historical profile in terms of how they dish out decisions and cards is known beforehand - and they are SELECTED accordingly with the foreknowledge that they will favor the team of choice.
Thirdly, referees receive a pre-match report that details how to judge every player - they are told that a certain player needs protection because they're a target, or such a player is a diver in the pre-match preparation - this introduces biases before they even step onto the pitch! But few people even know this!
3. VAR. VAR is an extremely opaque process that effectively amounts to : "trust me bro". What people do not understand is there are dozens upon dozens of contact situations in the box. Football IS A CONTACT SPORT. Any such contact on video could potentially be interpreted by the VAR as a potential penalty offense. This provides an added layer of CONTROL and influence that was not available previously.
4. The Bracket. The Bracket is fixed/rigged beforehand to ensue certain teams can only meet late in the game. There is no guarantee of anything - but probability wise, you can ensure that the preferred teams can reach at least the QF which guarantees a payout for FIFA.
They PAID not accused of paying. Report it correctly. Someone who's not familiar with the matter will get the impression that this is barely an allegation.
The entire football world is finally waking up on Messi
At Barcelona, there was the Negreira case, where the club was accused of making payments to the vice-president of Spain's refereeing committee. Now, with Argentina, controversial refereeing decisions in their favor in almost every match.
"Tonight I suffered with Argentina..."
He immediately then catches himself and then adds: "...but I'm neutral."
This is the FIFA President.
Classic quick backtrack after nearly admitting he wanted Argentina to win.
What a shameless useless biased mofo.
🚨 Infantino said he suffered for Argentina today:
FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed that he suffered tonight while following the Argentina match. 🇦🇷
But he quickly realized what he had said, so he backpedaled and added that he is neutral. 🙅🏻♂️
Why isn't he sacked immediately? 🤔
The ref hadn't even blown the whistle, vozinha was still setting up the wall, and Messi tried to steal a cheap goal… him being a “good guy” is the biggest false image in football
My biggest issue with Nigerian movies is how out of touch it is.
Nobody talks like that. No university system is like that.
It’s not high school, it’s secondary.
It’s not mom and dad, it’s mommy and daddy.
It’s not posh accents and chilling at grandpa’s mansion, it’s grounded things we actually do here. If I wanted oyibo sauce, I’d open Netflix.
And I will continue to open Netflix lmfao.
So out of touch omo.
Somebody should teach this to Henry. That guy would swear it was a perfume spray if Messi spat on his mother. He bent over backwards to justify the sham that took place when Messi wasn't even booked for a similar offence. Talking about it wasn't intentional.
