OpenAI dropped a model that outperforms Fable 5 on real work at nearly 1% of the cost. Luna is 80% cheaper as of today 👇

the numbers are almost hard to believe:

→ GPT-5.6 Luna just dropped 80% in price
→ on professional work (measured by Agents' Last Exam), OpenAI says Luna outperforms Fable 5 at an estimated cost per task nearly 99% lower
→ it matches models that were frontier-class a year ago at roughly 6 cents on the dollar, and nearly 9x the speed
→ GPT-5.6 Terra also dropped 20%, and Auto-review in Codex now costs about 10x less

The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.

The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.

Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
