An IDF officer was killed in a clash with a Hezbollah gunman in southern Lebanon overnight, the military announces.

The slain soldier is named as Cpt. David Hazutt, 21, a platoon commander in the Golani Brigade’s 12th Battalion, from Ashkelon.

According to an IDF probe of the incident, at around 2 a.m., Golani soldiers encountered a Hezbollah operative as they entered a structure in the village of Deir Siryan. During the clash, Hazutt was killed and another soldier was lightly hurt.

The IDF says the wounded soldier was taken to a hospital and his family was notified.

Troops have launched searches for the operative, and struck Hezbollah sites in the area, the military adds.

Un oficial de las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel murió en un enfrentamiento con un operativo de Hezbolá durante la noche en el sur del Líbano.

🕯️ Capitán David Hazutt (21), de Ashkelon, comandante de pelotón del Batallón 12 de la Brigada Golani.

El incidente ocurrió alrededor de las 2:00 de la madrugada en la localidad de Deir Siryan, cuando soldados de la Brigada Golani ingresaron a una estructura y se enfrentaron con un operativo de Hezbolá. Tras el ataque, las FDI iniciaron una búsqueda del terrorista y atacaron posiciones de Hezbolá en la zona.

היום הגעתי למושב צופית יחד עם נבחרת האמנים לאירוע חנוכת "מגרש יובל" על שם סגן יובל יפה ז"ל גיבור ישראל.
יובל אהב כדורגל ואהב את המושב והמגרש הזה ינציח את דרכו וישאיר זיכרון מהאדם המדהים שהיה.
יובל היה קצין שיריון שבשבעה באוקטובר קפץ מביתו להכין את הטנקים ולצאת למלחמה, ולאחר 4 ימים ב-11 באוקטובר 2023 נפל בקרב ליד קיבוץ כיסופים בגיל 21.
משפט שהותיר אחריו ומספר הכל עליו זה: "השמיים הם הגבול והדרך דרך ארץ, ומי שיכול- צריך".
יורם אבא של יובל סיפר לי היום משהו קטן שריגש אותי במיוחד. בשנת 2021 בזמן שהייתי במסע הסברה באמסטרדם בפעילות בכיכר דאם, יובל היה שם עם אביו בטיול ויובל זיהה אותי שם וניגש אלי לחזק אותי ולתמוך. יורם לא הכיר אותי ושאל את יובל מי אני ויובל ענה לו: "הוא אכבר גבר שנלחם באנטי ישראלים".
אז עכשיו אני זה שצריך להגיד עליך יובל שאתה אכבר אכבר אכבר גיבור, שנלחם במחבלים הארורים והקריב את חייו למען כולנו כאן. ואנחנו נזכור אותך תמיד.
