CCB raids 5 places linked to ex-minister Anbil Mahesh’s aides in private school fraud case.

The Chennai Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on Tuesday conducted searches at five locations, including the houses of former Tamil Nadu school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi’s aides, as part of a probe into an alleged fraud involving private school administrators.

Police had registered a case following complaints that money was collected from private school managements on the promise of obtaining government recognition and various statutory approvals for their institutions.

On Sept 16, CCB personnel had searched houses and offices in Chennai and Tiruchirappalli belonging to Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and his aides Valadi Karthik, Arun Prakash and Prakash. Documents and electronic devices were seized during those searches and are being examined as part of the investigation.

Police had also searched houses and shops in Kallakurichi belonging to Saravanan, Ramesh and Gokulakrishnan, relatives of absconding accused Muthukumar, who is suspected of facilitating the collection of money from private school administrators. More than 30 documents were seized during those searches.

Continuing the investigation, CCB personnel on Tuesday searched houses at Saligramam, Kodambakkam, Choolaimedu, Poonamallee and Navalur belonging to P T Arasakumar, Muthukumar’s relative and aides of Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi.

Police said they seized 44 documents and one laptop linked to the case during the searches. The investigation is continuing.

Work to construct a new council hall for Greater Chennai Corporation is ongoing at Ripon Buildings.

The new council hall will be built to accommodate upto 300 councillors.

Currently, there are 200 councillors and plans were floated by the DMK govt to increase it to 250 councillors after delimiting zones. It wasn’t finished due to elections.

Till 2011, the city had 150 councillors and it was increased to 200.

@sivatalks @DMER_TN Administration is continuous… Even if there is no CM or an active govt, the administration will continue. The concerned officials must be pulled up and accountability has to be fixed by the current regime which is in power.

@Rahul10748013 @DMER_TN Outages are always there in TN. Moreover, this is an extended summer. @TANGEDCO_Offcl’s maintenance has just been bad and the TVK govt has to fix it.

I don’t think it is planned. Power cuts are not new to Tamil Nadu. This is how the administrative system has been and is. Since TVK villainised DMK for almost every routine issue in TN during their campaign, as though it was all DMK’s fault, it’s just coming back in the same form now… Every instance will be flared up.

Same with another DMK councillor K P Chokkalingam, who is the younger brother of former DMK MLA K P Shankar. He obstructed civic works, obstructed officials and caused delay to civic works.

The Tamil Nadu govt has upheld dismissal of DMK councillor V Babu from Chennai for assualting corporation workers, causing obstruction to officials from performing public duty, obstructions causing delay to public works.

The DMK councillor was dismissed in 2025 March by the DMK govt, and he went on an appeal to the Madras HC which directed the govt to hear his plea. The TVK govt heard his plea and wasn't convinced, and has upheld the dismissal.

DMK MP @KanimozhiDMK asks her “dear brother @actorvijay” on the 500+ crimes over the last hundred days including 200 murders, 300 sexual offences, 8 lock up deaths and ten honour-killings. Is this the change?..

In 2000, she received a gold ring from @actorvijay at GRH, Madurai during his son Jason Sanjay’s birthday event.

26 years later, at the same hospital, her daughter received a gold ring from @CMOTamilnadu Vijay.
