Those children and their teachers in Oyo slept in the coldest forest. For two uninterrupted weeks.
Bola Tinubu is in his palatial Ikoyi residence. Hosting political visitors and strategizing over power dynamics for the 2027 elections - his major preoccupation.
Seyi Makinde has visited the families of the victims on three different occasions. But, the President has not deemed it fit to leave his Lagos mansion to even say hello to the grieving families. We have a mindless, wicked and cold President who does not give a damn. Empathy? Not Tinubu.
He would quietly return to Aso Villa in a few days. And Oyo is right behind him in Lagos.
Bola Tinubu continues to dare us to do our worst. The choice is left for us in 2027.
What that police officer did is not an isolated case. If someone could do that in public while being recorded, he definitely does worse things behind the scene.
I won't be surprised if he's being knocked within the police for "doing it in public when it is being recorded" instead of why he did what he did.
Anytime a police officer expresses shock about bribery, paid bails, and extra-judicial killings within the police, I see a very dishonest police officer. I'm not saying all of them have done it. Probably, most have not even tried it, but these are events that are typical of the police.
It was fun for the guy. It was so casual. Like something he does to pass time.
About 7 years ago, a chick ran into my tyre and got crushed. It was on the office street and I had to park. I witnessed a scene that still unsettles me till date when I remember.
The mother hen would run towards the crushed chick and dash back at me, then to the other chicks. Her distress was so palpable. It ruined my whole day at work and everyone who observed me saw that I was disturbed. It was an event that revealed to me the kind of person I never knew that I was.
In my draft memoir, I did a whole chapter on it, "Accident on Fandriana Drive".
A policeman killing people, especially extra-judicially and in such casual fashion should worry every Nigerian. This is an issue that should provoke serious outrage and a need for far-reaching police reforms.
@PoliceNG and @TunjiDisu1, this is not the first of such. Those past cases, can the police publish exactly the consequences faced by the police officers (beyond dismissal). Dismissal is not a commensurate sanction for murder. Doing it while wearing uniform doesn't change its nature.
If those who did in the past are serving life sentences or on death row, we should not see such happening now.
If what happened was not in the glare of the public, I am certain that the police would deny the murder or mischaracterise the circumstance of such.
The citizen to police ratio in Nigeria is between 1:600 to 1:650. The police cannot afford to push the people to the wall.
Susan Chizhim has been battling with a rare long term chronic infection called “RHINOCLEROMA”since she was 10 and still shows up at work for her daily bread 😢
This is one of the true Nigerians that genuinely need help.
According to her, surgery is gonna cost about 30Million.
In the last 48hrs over 120 people in Kwara and 70 in Taraba were massacred.
Till now, Not a single arrest has been made, in a sane country the culprits should have met their makers
what can be worse than inability to protect the lives of the citizens. A very failed government
