@realokiemute@Kolzzzy@akintollgate@FinPlanKaluAja1 My issue was trying float the naira and raising rates, he could have floated the naira and then when it was stable raise the rates. He did both simultaneously. Not really him though but the central bank. He could have also increased supply before floating the naira. He didn’t
@realokiemute@Kolzzzy@akintollgate@FinPlanKaluAja1 Also, just to add, another thing that contributed to Buhari’s inflation was the printing of money to pay salaries. You can’t do that and expect there to be no inflation.
@realokiemute@Kolzzzy@akintollgate@FinPlanKaluAja1 Also, i gave government spending as an example, but we can stop borrowing, try reducing the government overhead expenses, reduce the government employee by shifting them to the private sector, but we can’t do that because the PS doesn’t have real growth.
@realokiemute@Kolzzzy@akintollgate@FinPlanKaluAja1 You have to also address why we had the inflation, our inflation is supply driven, not demand driven, we don’t produce enough. I wouldn’t raise IT to a point where we still cant mass produce to solve the inflation.
@realokiemute@Kolzzzy@akintollgate@FinPlanKaluAja1 Mainly for inflation.
My point being, thats not the only way to bring down inflation, because by increasing IR, you are also reducing growth and stopping jobs from being created. They could also reduce government spending, but they increased it.
@realokiemute@Kolzzzy@akintollgate@FinPlanKaluAja1 When you have lower interest rest,business can borrow and expand,debt is too expensive now thats why we are’nt seeing price come down, they rebased and just told us inflation is down,it is stable, yes, but things are still expensive.We still need business to grow and prices down.
@realokiemute@Kolzzzy@akintollgate@FinPlanKaluAja1 Buhari was worst at managing both. Bad forex market, interest rate were too high and is still too high, inflation. Trying to fix something you don’t understand, tinubu fixed the forex market but didn’t deal with interest rates, interest rates are too high, i would fix that first.
@realokiemute@Kolzzzy@akintollgate@FinPlanKaluAja1 Thats my point exactly, for Nigeria, we should have focused on the micro first, we are a rich nation with poor people, we should focus on making the micro work. Many people have become poorer, but the micro is stronger. We need to make the micro work or make the macro trip down.
@realokiemute@Kolzzzy@akintollgate@FinPlanKaluAja1 In the long run, you need both to grow together and not apart, if not, it won’t be sustainable. We need both to work and not one artificial pumped up.
@Kolzzzy@akintollgate@FinPlanKaluAja1 Rubbish? I de waste my time with you.
What do you sell to get the dollar? The business operating are under micro or macro? Please pick up any economics textbook to answer that question for you. You can have FX through the sale of crude, it doesn’t translate to a better micro.
