I’m deeply disappointed with @GOtvNg , @Opay_NG and @fccpcNigeria over the failure to resolve my recharge issue, despite it being reported several days ago. This prolonged delay is unacceptable. Customers deserve prompt support and a clear resolution.
@Opay_Ng I’m extremely displeased with the recharge I made through your app, as the payment was successful but the recipient did not receive the recharge. I hereby demand an immediate refund of the amount paid. Kindly resolve this issue without further delay.

Even among metered customers, payment remains a serious problem in Kano, Jos, Kaduna and Yola DISCOs.
Discos collected just under 50% of what they billed.
The gap is often seen as collection inefficiency on the Discos’ side. But in reality it reflects a well-documented pattern of non-payment that has become entrenched in the North.
Until that is confronted, it will keep draining the national grid and reinforcing the same structural imbalances that hold the whole country back.
The liberalisation of power generation laws, giving states and private players room to generate and supply power independently will mean that power investments will only happen in areas where those investments stand a chance of commercial viability.
The structural inequalities in Nigeria will remain for a long time to come.

NO MORE HIDING BEHIND NIGERIA’S NATIONAL NUMBERS.
I think it is time for the @NBS_Nigeria to lead a subnational statistical revolution.
Nigeria cannot continue to discuss development almost exclusively through national averages when the country is a federation of 36 states, the FCT and 774 local governments, each with vastly different economic structures, resources and governance outcomes.
National aggregates can conceal subnational failure just as easily as they reveal national progress.
If Nigeria’s GDP grows, which states are driving that growth? If poverty falls, where is it falling fastest? If employment rises, where are the jobs being created? If internally generated revenue increases, which states are actually expanding their fiscal capacity? If investment is growing, where is the capital going?
These questions should not be left to political interpretation. The data should tell us.
The NBS should therefore publish a standardized State Performance Dashboard, disaggregating major socioeconomic indicators by geopolitical zone, state and, wherever statistically feasible, local government.
The dashboard should cover at least six areas:
Economic Productivity: state GDP, GDP growth, GDP per capita, sectoral output, manufacturing, agriculture, exports, business formation and employment.
Fiscal Effort: internally generated revenue, IGR per capita, IGR relative to state economic output, federal transfers, total revenue, capital expenditure, recurrent expenditure, debt and debt service.
Human Development: poverty, education, learning outcomes, healthcare, maternal and child health, water, sanitation, electricity and other quality-of-life indicators.
Investment & Business Climate: private investment, new businesses, business survival, industrial activity, infrastructure and other measures of economic attractiveness.
Public Finance & Outcomes: not merely how much governments spend, but what citizens receive in return. A budget is not an achievement. Expenditure is not an achievement. Improved outcomes are achievements.
Institutional Capacity: budget execution, financial reporting, procurement transparency, debt management and the quality of public administration.
But we must be careful not to create a simplistic league table. States do not begin from the same baseline. The NBS should therefore measure absolute performance, relative performance against comparable states, and trajectory over time.
A state that inherited severe structural disadvantages but is improving rapidly should receive credit. A state that inherited a strong economic base but is stagnating should not be allowed to hide behind history.
We should also introduce a Fiscal Dependency Ratio federal transfers as a proportion of total state revenue and a Fiscal Effort indicator that measures the extent to which states are building their own sustainable revenue base.
This is not an argument against federal transfers. Equalisation is a legitimate feature of federalism. But equalisation should help states overcome structural disadvantages; it should not become a permanent business model.
The bigger issue is accountability.
Today, governments can easily claim success or blame failure on “Nigeria.” That must change.
If one state is attracting investment while another is not, let us know.
If one state is improving education while another is deteriorating, let us know.
If one state is expanding IGR and reducing fiscal dependency while another remains permanently dependent on federal allocations, let us know.
If one government is converting public resources into measurable improvements in citizens’ lives and another is not, let Nigerians see the difference.
Good statistics are not propaganda. They are public infrastructure.
The NBS should publish the underlying data in accessible, machine-readable formats so that citizens, researchers, investors, journalists and civil society can interrogate it.

🚨 IRAN THREATENS THE ENTIRE REGION

OYO STATE POLICE COMMAND DEBUNKS FALSE SOCIAL MEDIA CLAIM ON ABDUCTED SCHOOL CHILDREN AND TEACHERS
The attention of the Oyo State Police Command has been drawn to a misleading and unfounded video currently circulating on social media, alleging that the abducted school children and teachers from Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota Communities in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been moved to Kaduna State via a helicopter.
The Command wishes to categorically state that the content of the said video is entirely false, unverified, misleading, and devoid of any factual basis. The claim lacks credibility, substance, and the requisite threshold of authenticity expected of information relating to such a sensitive security matter.
Members of the public are hereby informed that intensive rescue operations remain ongoing. The Oyo State Police Command, in close collaboration with other security and intelligence agencies, has significantly intensified efforts aimed at ensuring the safe rescue of all abducted victims, their prompt reunification with their families, and the apprehension and prosecution of those responsible for the unfortunate incident.
The Command is deeply concerned about the deliberate spread of misinformation and disinformation by certain individuals seeking to undermine public confidence in the ongoing rescue efforts and the sacrifices being made daily by security personnel working tirelessly to secure the release of the victims. Such actions are not only irresponsible but also capable of creating unnecessary panic, misleading the public, and obstructing security operations.
The Oyo State Police Command therefore strongly warns against the dissemination of false, unverified, or malicious information, particularly on matters affecting public safety and national security. Individuals or groups found to be originating, promoting, or circulating misleading content intended to cast doubt on the integrity, professionalism, and commitment of security institutions, will be identified and dealt with in accordance with the law.
The Command urges residents of Oyo State and the general public to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of ongoing security efforts. Citizens are encouraged to rely only on information disseminated through official channels and verified sources while refraining from sharing speculative or unconfirmed reports.

The Governor of Ondo State shouldn’t have gone to court over eligibility to run for another term.
After the Jonathan episode, it became law that an executive (a governor or president) can not take oath of office more than twice for the same office.
It means that if a governor or president could not complete his term and his deputy or vice respectively takes over and is sworn in and he is elected and sworn in again, he can not be sworn in for the office again.
So effectively, he can not contest.
I don’t understand why some of our leaders allow themselves to be pushed around by very dishonest and dishonourable lawyers.
Why did the governor wait for the appeal court to remind him yesterday that he can not run for that office after been sworn in to complete Akeredolu’s term and sworn in again after winning his own election?
Why are they just wasting the precious time of our courts?
The governor should have rather look for a possible successor like others do too and thank God for the favour he received because if Akeredolu was alive to complete his term, Ayedatiwa would probably not have become governor.
Most times, analysts blame those they call sycophants but I think that office holders should be able to be truthful to themselves even if everyone around them are deceiving them.

Some political commentators behave like football fans who praise the referee when their team is winning but start shouting “match fixing!” the moment the scoreline changes.
We all remember when alliances were sweet, access was flowing, and handshakes were plenty. Nigeria was not “on the brink” then. Now that political equations have changed, we wake up daily to end-of-the-world sermons.
Calling Nigerians slaves because they refuse to follow your political preference is peak Lagos irony. The same Nigerians who voted, argued, campaigned, and exercised their democratic rights are now suddenly brainwashed simply because they didn’t vote your way. Egbami ke🤷🏻♂️

Even more interesting is how some serial political travellers suddenly become custodians of national morality. Today APC is evil, yesterday PDP was salvation, tomorrow ADC becomes the ultimate destination uhmm yen yen yen.

Respectfully, Nigeria is not under military rule. Nobody banned opposition. Nobody cancelled elections. What we are witnessing is simple: political heartbreak.
And heartbreak is not dictatorship.
Nigeria will argue, complain, criticise, and still vote again in 2027, because democracy is noisy, not obedient.
Maybe instead of predicting doom, politicians should try convincing Nigerians again. Egbon Dele, why not start by convincing people in your polling unit to vote for your preferred candidates first? After all, politics is local. Win your adugbo first, then we can take the national sermon seriously.

WHAT IS DEMOCRACY TO YOU? BASHORUN MOMODU
If you were truly numbered among those valiant souls who stared down the barrel of military dictatorship and demanded democracy at the risk of their own lives, then you ought to recognize democracy when you see her. You should, by now, be able to discern the noble principles of the democracy you once bled for.
1. Freedom is the firstborn of democracy.
The liberty of citizens to choose their leaders without trembling hands and without owing any mortal an explanation. Even if the people, in their wisdom or folly, elect a comedian who would march them into war like Ukraine, it is still their choice. Democracy permits choice; it does not guarantee perfection.
2. Democracy is not a picnic
It is not the intention of democracy to restrain a stronger, sharper, more strategic candidate from deploying his strengths to his advantage - and inevitably to the discomfort of weaker opponents. When two wrestlers enter the arena, the one who trained in the dark does not apologize for the sweat of the unprepared.
Democracy is a contest - it rewards the vigilant farmer who tills before the rains, not the dreamer who arrives at harvest with an empty basket. It favours the prepared and the fortunate. It is not a picnic where plates are pre-filled so that no guest feels slighted.
3. Produce proof of Intimidation
Unless you can produce evidence - concrete, irrefutable - that the President is inducing or intimidating the opposition into alignment, then he stands unstained before the court of democratic principle.
Democracy do not place a ban on opposition members from jumping off a rudderless ship. Democracy recognizes ambition and the ambitious usually follow Visionaries who could add value to their aspirations.
It is your choice to follow a visionless leader who cannot attract even the governor of his own state or the LG chairman of his own home to his side - very well. But do not cast stones at others who are not so shortsighted and have chosen not to drown with you.
4. Even Asiwaju was opposition once.
Tinubu himself once stood in opposition - not against an ordinary adversary, but against one of the most vengeful, ruthless, and calculating Presidents this nation has ever produced. A man who declared elections "do or die" and meant every syllable.
Did the palm tree cry when the storm came? Did Asiwaju wail? Did he flee into the night? Did he surrender his vision to despair? No. He endured. He plotted. He persevered.
If you truly absorbed any lessons from the man you once followed - who invested in your rise - you would understand that planning, strategy, and vision are the pillars upon which durable leadership stands. The most fundamental traits a leader must possess and they are the qualities that set Asiwaju apart from the boys you now follow.
Power was not served to him à la carte like a bowl of rice at iftar. Buhari did not have to fall for him to rise. To become President, he wrestled fiercely - as opposition to contenders and even as opposition within his own ruling fold.
The crown was earned Bashorun, not inherited. So tell your masters: enough of the dirge. In this market called democracy, the loudest lament does not win the bargain. Let them quit wailing and get to work.

THE ELECTION OF GRACE - NOT EVERY MAN IS THE SAME
By biblical standards, Grace is contextually defined as unmerited or unearned favour – a divine intervention that defies human logic and mocks earthly calculations.
That job you can neither earn by qualifications nor snatch by connection, but secured anyway – that is grace. That ailment defying all medicine, yet you recovered inexplicably – that is grace.
But there exists grace in its grander manifestation – where certain individuals enjoy consistent divine favor in their chosen fields.
While millions struggle like fish against the current, a chosen few perpetually exist in that unexplainable colony of ease. Where others stumble and fall like trees in a storm, these anointed minorities stand as flawless symbols of excellence – not by might, but by an invisible hand tilting the scales.
THE PARABLE OF PASTOR ADEBOYE
Take Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, for example. When he was ordained as a young, educated, enlightened, promising gentleman, it was an era when ministry was about as attractive as volunteering for poverty.
That was a season when no high-flying, intellectually mobile, young and vibrant fellow was expected to settle for pastoring as a career when there existed 1,001 other more promising and hugely rewarding paths one could confidently traverse.
The idiom "as poor as a church rat" was coined for a reason – it followed the brutal logic that the church was not a location where provisions were expected to be found at all, let alone abundance from which even rats could scavenge fallen crumbs.
The church was synonymous with lack. So if you were materially driven and prosperity-conscious, becoming a pastor in that era was akin to choosing a leaking canoe for an ocean voyage.
How then has Pastor Adeboye grown RCCG from a humble hut with such an uncertain future of struggle and obvious lack to a sprawling city that has established unshakeable dominion?
IT IS THE ELECTION OF GRACE for ministerial dominion.
Without diminishing his managerial acumen and administrative prowess, there were many men of faith who rose at that same time – perhaps with sharper organizational skills, more thunderous oratory gifts, whose influence and reach nonetheless evaporated before it could blossom.
You can neither pray nor work your way to become another Adeboye. No, Sir! He is the only man so appointed with that peculiar, non-transferable grace of ministerial dominion.
Today, there exists no single Nigerian privately-owned institution that can rival the sheer size and reach of the RCCG CAMP – a city within a city, a nation within a nation. Again, that is Election of Grace.
Watch him today and compare him to other ministers: you cannot particularly say his sermons are extraordinary and it is responsible for the mammoth crowd.
You cannot claim he is the supreme interpreter of Scripture – we have pastors today who can translate the entire Old Testament to Hebrew and the New Testament to Greek and Aramaic right there on the pulpit, their linguistic gymnastics leaving audiences dazzled.
You cannot specifically tie Pastor Adeboye's unmatched ministerial success and towering influence to any mortal gift or talent – that is how you recognize the fingerprints of grace. When human ability cannot account for supernatural results, you have encountered election by divine appointment.
FROM PULPIT TO POLITICS
And as it manifests in religion with Pastor Adeboye, so does it reveal itself in the treacherous terrain of politics. From 1960 to 2026, we have witnessed men who commanded greater wealth, enjoyed better health, wielded more eloquent tongues, boasted superior education, and even possessed more natural charisma – yet this one man has eclipsed all who came before him and crushed all unfortunate enough to stand against him in his appointed season.
The Zulu say: No bird flies higher than others unless it has been chosen.
