The @BioVaxInstitute, together with the Kenya Vaccine Consortium—comprising @atkinsrealis , @SKLifeScience , and the @IVIHeadquarters —officially submitted the Interim Feasibility Study Report for the Smart Vaccine Manufacturing Facility Project to the Principal Secretary for Medical Services (@MOHMediServices), Dr. Ouma Oluga (@fnoluga), at Afya House, Nairobi. The meeting marked a key milestone in advancing Kenya's goal of vaccine self-reliance and regional manufacturing leadership.

In his address, Dr. Oluga reaffirmed the government's commitment to investing in sustainable, locally driven health solutions, while Ag. CEO Dr. Cecilia Wanjala emphasized BioVax's strategic role in operationalizing the smart facility. The Consortium presented the report's findings, highlighting Kenya's readiness for local vaccine production, integrating smart manufacturing technologies, and strengthening pharmacovigilance and regulatory systems.

The submission set the stage for the project's next phase and reaffirmed the country's commitment to building a robust, future-ready vaccine ecosystem.

#Sudan has declared a #cholera outbreak in West Kordofan state. As of 20 June 2026, the State Ministry of Health reported 838 suspected cholera cases, 7 confirmed cases and 117 deaths.

The outbreak is unfolding amid the continued disruption of health services caused by conflict.

Population displacement is making access to essential health care even more difficult. At the same time, insecurity and access constraints continue to delay the deployment of response teams and delivery of medical supplies and humanitarian assistance.

@WHO is coordinating the health response with partners, scaling up cholera treatment centres and oral rehydration points, delivering cholera kits, installing handwashing stations, training chlorinators, hygiene promoters and health workers, and supporting community health education.

#Hantavirus Update:

- All contacts of the two cases identified in South Africa at the beginning of the outbreak have completed their follow-up period, with no additional cases reported.

- Quarantine and follow-up periods have also been completed for everyone in Spain and the Netherlands, including the MV Hondius crew members.

- As of June 25, 30 contacts are still under follow-up.

- The total number of cases remains at 13, including three fatalities.

- The situation remains stable, and the outbreak is nearing its end.
