1/x A tale of the academic job market: I'm a 6th year PhD student at Texas A&M in behavioral neuro via the psych department. While I enjoy research, my main passion is teaching. So when it came to applying to jobs, I applied to mainly small liberal arts colleges (SLACs).
We are hiring again! This makes three years of fresh faces in our Neuroscience Program/Psychology Department. Teaching/research expertise in systems neuro, sensation & perception, and/or motor systems is esp. encouraged. #AcademicChatter#slac (Link ⬇️)
Incredibly grateful for all the support I received from @RachelSmith_PhD and my committee throughout my grad career 💛 I’m looking forward to calling them colleagues 🙌🏽
@Best4Liberty@jonathanchait Does this apply to any other demographic, Landon? Do I get to be black if I like Motown and fancy myself in cornrows? What if I claim the authentic me has always been black and that you're being racist to me? Would that be OK, or would you find it ludicrous and deeply offensive?

Reposting this as April 15th approaches. Yes, getting rejected isn’t fun, but 1 is all it takes. 6 years in @tamupsycbrain and I’ve successfully defended and pretty much got my dream job. Sometimes life takes you where you don’t expect (for me, that was Texas).
A busy week!! Congrats to Dr. Shelby Blair!! 🎉🍾🎊 Shelby found state-dep effects of neurosteroids on context fear. Naomi and I co-chaired with Israel Liberzon and @MoskieLab. And 🙌🏼 @one_rainydae joins @alleghenycol as an Asst Prof this fall!! Woohoo!
