Some personal/professional news: I start as Program Director at the Pickford Film Center tomorrow.
It’s the Bellingham arthouse that has been my cinematic home for many years. I’m still pinching myself that’s it’s where I get to go to work!

Feeling despondent. If you are an editor who wants to work with me, let’s do it soon. My time is running out. My only hope of staying in this country is if a publication or any job wants to hire me full time & sponsor me for a green card. A long shot. But the only shot I got.
@Geniusbastard Mind boggling to me that people seem to think Republicans are going to do something different after years and years of watching them do the same thing over and over.
“Govern”? “Fix problems”? Yield to pressure from Democrats? What the hell is she talking about?
The media this morning saying Dems need to have a reckoning.
No, we don't. We can't be blamed because we expected Americans to be who they always claim they are.
Democrats don't have a messaging problem. America has a racism problem.
My feed is already filled with people tripping over each other to pinpoint exactly what Harris did to fuck this up, rather than facing how fucked up it is that so many people would vote for a convicted felon and rapist rather than a qualified woman of color.
HUGE NEWS: Johnson County, Iowa's most Democratic county, is on track to shatter turnout records tonight. if you are in line to vote, please stay in line! We had a US House race decided by only six votes here in 2020, your ballot could make the difference.
NO OTHER LAND enrages as it exposes Israel’s displacement of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
Two of its co-directors, @basel_adra and @yuval_abraham, discussed structural violence, apartheid reality. and the role of the camera in their resistance: https://t.co/0q5iSjmmmy
@Geniusbastard I keep reminding myself of this, too. It’s a comfort.
I think I worry most now about what happens in individual states, e. g. violent attempts to stop vote counts there
@kylegriffin1 Too little too late from the NYT. If they had any integrity, they would have removed the last two words, taken it out of the Opinion section, and put it on the front page weeks ago.
This election will end in one of two ways: either Trump or Harris will win. Not the first to say this, but if you think not voting (or voting 3rd party) is a meaningful way to protest what’s happening in Gaza & being done to Palestinians, you’re delusional. & privileged. AND >>>
Already cancelled the NYT and LA Times, so I guess we’re on a roll
More grateful than ever for the independent journalists and other outlets that have become the staples of my media diet
NEWS: The Washington Post will not be making an endorsement in this year's presidential race, the editor of the editorial pages has told colleagues at a tense meeting this morning
