Mumbai’s long-standing AH Wheeler & Co book stalls were discontinued across the Western Railway network, bringing an end to a historic tradition associated with Rudyard Kipling and commuter reading habits.

Most stalls were shut after March 31, 2026, while the original structure at Mumbai Central was preserved and repurposed, retaining a small piece of the city’s railway heritage.
