Tower Hamlets Council have voted 2-1 to put a shopping mall full of High St chains at the heart of Brick Lane, when a great alternative plan existed to help local businesses and people. Targeted destruction of arguably the most important Asian community outside Asia, for starters

@fingtamLangs Watching shows or reading books you know the plot of, writing in the language, listening to youtube videos or podcasts, talking to myself or consciously translating my thoughts into my TL...
@fingtamLangs@lindiebee Improve listening skills by watching TV shows with formats you know already and watch films with the subtitles in the target language. Spend as much time immersing yourself as you possibly can. Talk and make lots of mistakes but keep talking!
@fingtamLangs I red every Spanish novel that dared cross my path, watched every second of every Spongebob episode avaliable in Spanish at the time and learned by heart every song ever sang in Spanish.
It was an eventful few years...
@fingtamLangs For my C2-languages: formal study in high school and university + studying abroad and being in constant contact with the language, lots of reading, etc. I found it quite easy to reach C1 in Italian after I already had C2 in Spanish, even though I only self-studied Italian.
@fingtamLangs Listening to podcasts. A lot but very actively; with a focus on pronunciation, use of idioms, expressions, vocabulary, sentence structure, intonation, connected speech and and then use this whenever you talk in your TL. I've also found that advanced writing exercises help a lot.
@fingtamLangs Speak, speak, speak. Immerse completely with tons of listening, actively learning words relevant to conversations I want to have, and taking TIME. Took me a few years.
