Last year, Google made £5.7bn revenue in the UK.
Globally, its net profit margins were around 20%, or around £1.15bn in the UK.
Corporation tax is 19%, so Google should have paid £218m in tax.
Instead, it paid just £49m.
How? By routing sales through an Irish subsidiary.
What an amazing turn out for the #nzei#teacherstrike in Whangarei! Proud of my colleagues and all the teachers in NZ for standing up for what’s right! My mini crew and I had lots of fun marching! Time for some #mcdonalds for all their hard work 🍔
I wholeheartedly back the #teacherstrike. Many of my friends are now teachers, and I trained at Teachers College in my early 20s so I got to see how much mahi goes into educating the next generation. We're with you!!!!
