To Kenyans watching the interview, former Chief Justice David Maraga comes across as a dull candidate, too calm and too restrained for the political theatre we’ve grown accustomed to.
A lot of us are tuned in, not to hear his policies, but hoping he’ll throw jabs, hurl insults, or make wild accusations, anything to spark some chaos.
Just for a second, we want Maraga to sound like Gachagua. But instead, he keeps circling back to the rule of law, promising order and constitutionalism.
And maybe that says more about us than him. We've grown so accustomed to loud politics and unruly leaders that we now crave drama over discipline.
We've normalised the circus, and now we miss it when it's not there.

A human rights group says more than 80 government critics have allegedly gone missing in Kenya after a protest movement erupted in June against a controversial finance bill.
@LarryMadowo speaks with several reported abductees who have since been released.
A teacher who’s not active on social media was abducted outside his SDA church because of his brother’s silhouette cartoons. Anyone who talks about discipline or respect is lying to justify human rights violations.
8 days since President Ruto promised to end abductions in Kenya
Protesters attending the #EndAbductionsKE march in Nairobi CBD are now chanting the names of Kenyans who have gone missing amidst the ongoing wave of enforced disappearances.
This is Isaiah Ndumba Murangiri,
Some of you will remember his footage shooting at journalists trending online during the protests.
He is also the one alleged to have shot the first casualty of the June protests, Rex Maasai.
Murangiri appeared in court yesterday as the inquest into Rex's death kicked off!
I keep telling all rogue police officers, you will be all alone taking responsibility for your actions.
Murangiri here will terribly regret his actions. The law does not joke around!
