The Lord asks us to choose to love over hate, generosity over selfishness, and compassion over indifference: then we are truly carrying our crosses, plowing the same path He did on the way to Golgotha.
At the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine, we remember those lost on #September11, 2001, and those whose service took their health and lives in the years after. Our doors are open to all who seek solace and remembrance. #NeverForget
On this Labor Day, we honor those who fought for the rights of the hardworking, ensuring fair wages and dignity in labor. As St. Paul reminds us, “The laborer deserves his wages” (1 Tim 5:18). This is how we fulfill the promise of the American dream, for all to partake.
At the Phanar, in the presence of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, we welcome the New Church Year, praying for God’s abundant grace upon all creation.
At the #DNC2024CHICAGO, I had the honor of greeting President @BarackObama and conveying the blessings of His All Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, whom he has met twice—first in Istanbul and later at the @WhiteHouse during his presidency.
Eternal+Ever-Living God: we come before You, seeking Your Heavenly Benediction upon this DNC. Grant unto the nominee for President of USA, VP @KamalaHarris & her running mate @GovTimWalz to pursue the highest offices in the Land with love, with hope and with faith in our Nation.
Let us pray to the Theotokos, the “shelter for the world,” that she may intercede on behalf of all those threatened by the fires near Athens and protect the heroic firefighters who night and day brave the flames to save the life and lives of their neighbors.
Today we observe with gratitude the 113th birthday of Archbishop Iakovos, who led our Archdiocese for 37 years. Memory Eternal to this great Hierarch of the 20th Century!
It was a great honor to be received by President @Christodulides at the solemn observance of the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion to reaffirm that our Church remains steadfast in supporting justice for Cyprus in accordance with international law.
Α great pleasure to meet with Min. @MichaelidouAth at the Ministry of Education. We discussed educational initiatives to include the history & culture of Cyprus in our schools in the US + inviting children from Cyprus to spend time at our summer camp - Ionian Village - in Greece.
Thank you, Pres. @AnnitaDemetriou, for your warm reception at the @CYParliament and discussing our Church & Omogeneia in the USA. You have our unwavering support for Cyprus's struggle for justice that ensures the departure of the occupation forces in line with international law.
We gathered at @StNicholasWTC on the profoundly painful anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus to say to ourselves and the world that we will never forget. Cyprus will be whole again.
'Democracy,' the noble experiment conceived by the Hellenic mind over 2,500 years ago, has never been static. The last line of the Declaration, lies a roadmap for how our great country can come together, regardless of the political views one might hold #HappyFourthofJuly
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, you are the Archdiocese! You are the manifestation of our Oneness in Christ, especially when you engage with one another in peace, patience, in compassion, and in love. #ICWR1
In our congregation today, we have a complete icon of the Church, manifesting all the limbs of the Body of Christ. No one occupies a separate reality from the rest. We are One Church, One Archdiocese, “One Body in Christ, and each one members of each other.” #ICWR1
