@meenanwallace@mrs_twp Children come to school very poorly prepared by parents - no recognition of their name when written, poor language skills, limited knowledge of colours, no idea that a book goes from left to right and the pictures explain the text. Don't blame it on Covid; it started before then
@mrs_twp I taught Foundation students - young people mostly between the ages of 16-19 - who didn't know this information. So its a very good place to start. Talk to anyone who works in education and you would hear similar stories.
@lorahmoe 2/2 occasionally if there are spare seats the stewards allow you to move once you're airborne but you have to return to your assigned seat for landing. Essentially what you're saying is that American airlines completely disregard safety rules.
@lorahmoe Im really doubtful these kind of things ever happen. Every flight I've been on - Air NZ, Singapore, Lufthansa, China Airways and many others - do not allow seat swapping. You have to sit in your assigned seat for safety reasons. 1/2
@luxemiaa You aren't actually allowed to swap seats. Its a security measure. Occasionally if the flight isnt full they'll let you move but they tell you for takeoff and landing you have to return to your assigned seats. Is it just US airlines that flout this?
@VideosLoungeee What this really shows is how rude Americans are. I was shocked to see an American woman in a cafe in New Zealand tap her cup impatiently and go "more coffee". No please or thank-you. On my way out I told the young waitress "don't be in too much of a hurry to serve her".
@itsnwts I dont get all these problems people have on planes. Its basic health and safety and rhe airline crew will tell ypu smartly where to sit. Im wondering if this some kind of peculiarly American problem?
@SonofOmahu@NZStuff Actually it was the perfect response - the forgotten man. Nobody in their right mind wanted to remember him. I'd forgotten his name until now and Id like to keep forgetting it
@MsLongview Exactly. And what's his defence going to be? I don't want my taxpayer dollars going to fund this circus. It's bad enough that we have to pay for him now.
@atrupar What a moron. He's the Prime Minister of the country you're trying to invade. And you're telling him he's wrong for wanting to defend his country? The effrontery!
