Today, I am proud to introduce the Nigeria Religious Freedom and Accountability Act of 2026 with Rep. Chris Smith.
The U.S. is a Christian nation. As such, we must stand with persecuted Christians around the world.
Our legislation will build upon the momentum of President Trump designating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern and the recent US-Nigeria security framework agreement.
The execution of Brigadier General Uba by ISWAP is not just another headline, it’s a brutal reminder of how deep insecurity has eaten into this British company.
If a senior military officer, a whole Brigade Commander, can be ambushed, captured, and executed in that manner then what exactly is the fate of the ordinary Nigerian like us?
If terrorists can overpower the very people trained and armed to defend us, it means the system is broken at a level we don’t want to admit simply because some of you are still building castle in the air.
Insecurity in Nigeria is no longer about region, or politics, It is a national emergency and disintegration of this contraption is the only solvable solution but pretending otherwise only makes things worse.
Few days ago, ISWAP a faction of Boko Haram, attacked a military convoy killing 4 soldiers and capturing a brigadier general. Brig Gen Mohammed Uba.
The Nigerian army denied the story stating the general returned safe. However the general did not return safe. He initially escaped and made some calls but he was recaptured by the terrorists and murdered.
ISWAP has now released a confirmation that they killed the general and this is now public knowledge.
A few things that are very worrying here:
1. The Nigerian authorities playing politics with the life of a brigadier general of the army. The lying, denial and refusal to be honest with the public.
2. The clear fact that there is likely to be a mole and informant within the Army that informed the terrorists of the general’s location after his initial escape. This further confirms what a lot of current/retired army officers have said that there are a lot of compromised soldiers within the Nigerian army that work with Boko haram and ISWAP. In this case, a Nigerian brigadier general has been murdered by bloodthirsty terrorists most likely from intel received from a complicit Nigerian soldier who is an undercover agent for the terrorists.
This is the highest ranking Nigerian army official ever kidnapped and slaughtered by Islamist terrorists.
This is really appalling. This is sad.
And this is a huge disgrace to the whole country.
May the souls of those 4soldiers and General Uba rest in peace. 🙏🏿
The Nigerian media will NOT report this because the Nigerian government has completely gagged and silenced them.

Dear @realDonaldTrump,
A few days ago, media blogs around Nigeria spread the news that a brigadier general has been abducted by ISWAP terrorists while on a mission.
A few hours later the Nigerian Army Headquarters released a statement saying Gen Uba made it back to base leading his gallant men and called the news false rumors..
ISWAP have released a video footage in which they have General Uba and have reportedly executed him...
If anything is going to happen, now is the time
Urgent Appeal: Ethnic Cleansing in Nigeria Demands Global Action Now
We are reminded of the ongoing crisis in Nigeria’s Plateau State, where innocent lives are being lost to systematic violence. This video captured the harrowing testimony of Sir Joseph Gwankat Makaman Panyam, a local leader from Mangu district, who describes the brutal attacks by Fulani militants targeting minority tribes, particularly Christians.
In his own words, over 30 people, including men, women, and children, were mercilessly killed in Gubat, and another 29 in Fungzai. Houses have been set ablaze, crops destroyed, and communities displaced. This is not just conflict; it is ethnic cleansing, a genocide that demands our immediate attention.
As the world watches, we must not remain silent. The international community, including the United States under President Trump’s administration, has a moral obligation to act. The U.S. Department of War’s recent warning to terrorist groups in Nigeria is a step in the right direction, but more must be done to protect these vulnerable communities.
Let us stand with Sir Joseph and the people of Plateau State. As Nigerian governmnnet continue to deny these killing, Share this message, raise awareness, and demand action. The time for silence is over. #StopGenocideInNigeria #ProtectChristianCommunities @realDonaldTrump@SenTedCruz
In Nigeria, where the government persists in denying the atrocities committed by Islamist extremists against Christians, survivors continue to share their harrowing experiences.
A man has finally spoken out: "Fulani terrorists set my wife, five children, and all my property ablaze."

SHOCKING: Armed Bandits Storm Katsina Local Government to Sign "Peace Deal"
But Is It Real Peace?
Watch the unbelievable moment heavily armed men, widely described as terrorists/bandits, boldly entered a local government secretariat in Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria, to sign a so-called "peace agreement" with authorities.
While some see this as a step toward ending years of killings, kidnappings, and destruction in the region, many Nigerians are asking the real question:
Is this peace deal genuine… or just a tactical lifeline for the bandits to regroup, rearm, and strike again even harder?
This is the sad reality of insecurity in Northern Nigeria in 2025.
News Flash!
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states of Nigeria has affirmed that the killings of Christians in Northern Nigeria amount to genocide, adding that the denial of Christian genocide is an injustice to victims and the faith community.
