Subject: IRCTC charging Rs 26.04 for UPI payment for booking ticket. Why?
Dear Minister Ashwini Vaishnav @AshwiniVaishnaw
Copy to: @PMOIndia & @IRCTCofficial
I am writing this to bring this into your knowledge how IRCTC has been duping by fraudulent activities the hapless passenger booking ticket using IRCTC application.
You will notice that the ticket for Delhi to Lucknow is of Rs. 1225.40 including convenience fee and GST. IRCTC declare that there are no additional charges for payment by UPI. But, I was charged Rs. 1251.44 which is Rs.26.04 more than IRCTC should have deducted or charged.
I hope as the Minister incharge of IRCTC, you will take concrete action on this and take punitive action against those who are involving @indianrailway__ in such frauds.
Looking forward to strict action asap!
Regards
Ashok Kumar
RTGS usually costs 50 Rs Plus GST and it is only above transactions above 2 lakhs.
NEFT usually costs 15 Rs. plus GST.
In comparison,
For a UPI of Rs 75000 I will have to pay Rs 300 to the govt.
Naked robbery at 0.4%.
Yeh Chaiwala Pura Middle class ko Loot k hi manega.
Bhai Chandra sahab ke ₹22,000 crores maaf nahi karte to India mein UPI agle 20 saal tak free chal jaata by government’s number of ₹8,000 crores subsidy.
Also NPCI - which runs UPI has ₹6,119 hard cash on its balance sheet and pre tax operating profit of ₹1,900 crores. NPCI apne cash pe and profits par zindagi bhar UPI free chala sakti hai. Government ka kuchh lena dena hi nahi hai. Government earned ₹1,000 crores tax from NPCI last year.
I explain analytical base of my conclusion that GDP growth in Q1 in 2026-27 in current price is 2.6% and in real terms close to 0. There are still messier distortions in sectoral performance with manufacturing and consumption witnessing negative growth. https://t.co/pvsjXlAdcq
The Indian tax system looked at two people making the same ₹12 lakh and decided character is everything.
Person A works for someone. Sits in meetings. Makes slides. Answers “circling back.” Takes home ₹12 lakh salary. Government: Beta, you have suffered enough. Standard deduction, rebate under 87A, go in peace. Zero tax.
Person B reads, learns markets, risks their own money, loses sleep on expiry Thursday, and makes ₹12 lakh profit. Government: Ah, a capitalist. 12.5% LTCG after ₹1.25 lakh, or 20% STCG if you sold too early. Plus cess. File ITR-2. Don’t forget STT you already paid. Also we may still want to know why you didn’t just stay employed.
Salary is a wound. Capital gain is a confession.
Clock in, get a rebate.
Compound, get a bill.
Labour is blessed. Capital is invoiced.
"Stop this CASino SEBI"
I have never seen a journalist completely tear apart SEBI like this.
SEBI wanted to fix a ₹2 tracking error and accidentally turned the market close into a ₹1.4 trillion roulette wheel.
Absolutely must read article on CAS with very good suggestions at the end.

On 12 August, I filed an RTI with SEBI on CAS.
Reply came in 9 days, faster than the Act requires. 10 questions, 3 groups.
1. Why the timing changed?
The consultation paper said index derivatives would close at 3:30. The circular says 3:40. I asked for the comments received and the record behind that change.
Answer: 45 entities commented on the consultation paper. I asked who they were, by category. Not given.
The rest was refused under Sections 8(1)(a), 8(1)(d) and 8(1)(e). Reason given: it would reveal the mind of the regulator.
2. Whether anyone studied the effect on options?
I asked for any impact study on how CAS would affect option pricing between 3:15 and 3:40, and said if none exists, please say so.
Refused with the same group. Neither confirmed nor denied.
3. Whether anyone checked before go-live?
The circular requires an indicative index to be shown during CAS. I asked whether SEBI had checked, before 3 August, that it was actually reaching retail trading apps.
They sent me a link to the CAS circular. The same circular I had quoted in the question.
SEBI's reason to not disclose all information is that it'd hamper its decision making. But this decision was made in January and has been live since August. There is nothing left to decide on it.
And 8(1)(d) and 8(1)(e) both carry a public interest test written into the Act, which the reply does not touch.
Filing the first appeal.
This is the cost you pay for every transaction you place when buying and selling shares. This is not FNO; normal delivery shares. In the USA, the cost is 100 times cheaper. Many index funds in the USA charge a 0.03% expense ratio per year, which is 6 to 7 times cheaper than what our government robs from our pocket, assuming we just do just 1 transaction of buy and sell every year.
If this is the way to address the 'Problem' of Retail Losses by 'Eliminating the Root Cause' by Killing the Market, then so be it.
On one side, our Honorable PM @narendramodi gave a call for "Sapt Dhara" which includes Manufacturing,Agriculture, Technology & Innovation, Infrastructure, Defense and Green & Blue Economy, all of which is Capital Intensive, but still they want to Kill Capital Markets.
Purpose of Capital Market is not for the Traders Ecosystem only but its regarded as the Backbone of any Economy. It is the medium for Enterprenaurs to Raise Capital from Retail and Channelise it into Industry.
If we don't have a Robust Capital Market with Volumes and Lower Transaction Costs, there will be NO Capital left in Capital Markets. Price Earnings will take a major Hit and get a Self Downgrade.
A Serious thought needs to be given on this as all the recent measures aiming to safeguard 'Retail Traders NOT Investors' is Strangulating the Entire Existence and Purpose of this Spinal Cord of the Financial Ecosystem.

Retweet for Maximum Attention, if you Agree
Few questions
You said CAS introduced to stop manipulation but here you accepted manipulation happened.
From Jane street to this you fining those who done manipulation but what happened to those traders who lost money on same manipulation? What are you doing with that fine amounts?
You bring new rules without understanding the consequences, having loop holes and treating retail traders like lab test rats for your experiments?
There are lot of things need to be addressed in Indian stock market. Spend all this energies educating people!
People are not fools!
