The debates are complicated but the ASK is simple. School IRL (In Real Life) is an essential service. Open our schools at the beginning of March. #ReopenSchoolsIRL

@TdTranslator @NormaFoleyTD1 @DonnellyStephen @SimonHarrisTD@LeoVaradkar@MichealMartinTD It is always the number in ICU that is important, not hospital. Kids go to hospital all the time for flu and are being closely monitored for covid, which explains hospital admissions figure. No under 12 in ICU in Jan. This kind of reporting is misleading. #reopenschoolsIRL
@Countrycamperg1@schools_irish@POTUS @President_MU @NormaFoleyTD1 Wowsers, this really disintegrated. This campaign includes medics, teachers, secretaries, single parents, foster parents, grandparents, all with the common interest of children at heart. We fully support safety measures required to protect EVERYONE involved in school reopening.
@Countrycamperg1@schools_irish@POTUS @President_MU @NormaFoleyTD1 Under 2%of children under 18 with covid were admitted to hospital in Feb. None admitted to ICU. We know that there is always risk, risk to mental health and educational outcomes is proven and greater.
@openschoolsIRL@POTUS They should be back anyway though, COVID practically doesn't exist in Irish schools @President_MU @NormaFoleyTD1 the children are not at risk
@mama_tude Let’s not forget our teenagers who have no classroom based school or sport or structured activity until after Easter. Everyday I’m hearing about teenagers losing motivation, staying in their rooms and becoming despondent. They need adult help and advocacy @openschoolsIRL
Wishing all students and staff, who are returning to school today, a very happy return. And thinking of all the children with additional educational needs in mainstream schools who remain unprovided for. HOW has this happened @NormaFoleyTD1@MichealMartinTD@LeoVaradkar ??
Sisters Dawn and Sophie Hallinan both have special educational needs. Tomorrow Dawn who is in Junior Imfants goes back to school but Sophie who is 3rd class stays at home. Their mother Suzanne believes children with special needs in mainstream ate being left behind @rtenews
A leading Autism charity has accused the government of putting the interests of unions ahead of those of children with special needs. Adam Harris, of As I Am said around 20,000 students in 3rd class to 5th year will be left behind tomorrow when schools reopen @rtenews
No John (John Boyne INTO), kids being in school for 3 months out of 12, during the first year of Covid, isn’t a ‘fantastic miracle’ and never will be. We are the only 1st world country who kids have been deliberately kept out of sen for this length.
As children prepare to return to school this is timely and valuable work from the @ChildRightsIRL which highlights the impact and inequity of reduced timetables for children with additional needs.

Many parents say school closures have had a 'very negative' impact on their children’s learning and social development, according to research by the Central Statistics Office https://t.co/LHqmnMyX4t
Adam, a member of @SpunOut's Youth Action Panel, joined us for the launch of #ReportCard2021 this week to highlight the impact Covid-19 has had on young people over the past year.
He drew attention to how difficult it has been for his friends living in #DirectProvision
The NCSE has produced this document to help children with additional educational needs understand the return to school process, and why they may be returning at different times to their friends and peers.
A good resource for parents and for teachers: https://t.co/e1mhBFmIZ0
Seeing this made me smile this morning; I'm thrilled seeing 28,000 young girls signed up for this event. It's incredible to see an event like this for free inspiring young girls across Ireland. 👏👏@shonadotie amazing achievement.
