. @openstreetsdc That was such a civilising and transformative moment. Feeling of community and a glimpse of another way to live was palpable. Pls repeat every Saturday.
@openstreetsdc this was extraordinary. Amazing. To bike outside our house and have no cars for three miles on the main road that divides up our neighborhood—wow. We saw all our neighbors. All the music and festivities was a bonus! We couldn’t stop smiling! #bikedc
At @openstreetsdc we saw in Georgia Avenue: joggers, bikers, walkers, parents with strollers, kids on bikes and scooters, a spin class, musicians, skateboarders, a bike repair shop, e-scooter test rides, and tons of other better uses for this space than devoting it to cars.
Thank you to everyone that stopped by our tent today at #OpenStreetsDC!
We had an amazing time getting to meet all of you and being able to partake in the city's first Open Streets event.
The event runs till 2pm so you still have time to swing by and say hi!
#DCsBravest “Sparky” greets folks at @openstreetsdc. He is our ambassador for fire safety, and this is Fire Prevention Week. Do you have working smoke alarms? Test them regularly? How about a home fire safety and escape plan?
