@edwest In Meknes you can see marble looted from the nearby Roman city of Volubilis. Sharif ordered that destruction in 1672 in a break from executing 30k men. Volubilis is well preserved today so 350 years ago it must have been almost pristine. Tantalisingly close to reaching us intact.

@MysteriosoX @outonbluesix If you have never heard it I would recommend the one off 'Radio Spirit World'. It never became a series but it's one of the best things the pair of them made. They did so many things for the sake of it that are really funny, like 'Markets of Britain', a short film by Lee Titt.
