Just over a day away from its closest approach to Earth, here is Mars from Monday morning. Seeing was quite poor and the planet was grabbed in a cloud gap. Syrtis Major is almost central on the disk, blue hazes are seen at the limbs, and the S polar cap is almost gone.

We know the orbits of the Earth around the #Sun , & #Moon around the Earth are not circular. I took a picture of the Sun at Aphelion & Perihelion (farthest & closest points in orbit) & the Moon at Perigee & Apogee to show the difference in apparent size. #Astrophotography
