SC gets dinged in economic development rankings every year for our poor civil justice climate. Our Modified Comparative Negligence standard is not business friendly. @PalmettoPromise@PalmettoImpact
As SC Senate prepares to debate Education Scholarship Account (ESA) legislation, it is worth noting that compared to our neighbors, the Palmetto State is a school choice desert both in number & percentage of scholarships. Grateful the Senate is working on this. @PalmettoPromise
SC Governor John West, a close friend of GA Governor Jimmy Carter, who was elected the same year, drove the discussion of how the state could assist students in private schools. The West Commission Report lends strong support for the constitutionality of bills like S 62.
SC Const. issue in S.62 turns on change passed by voters in 1972 and ratified by General Assembly in 1973. INdirect aid, that is aid to private school students, not schools themselves, became constitutional in 1973. That's why we have 1st Steps,Tuition Grants and hopefully S.62.
SC Senate Ed subcommittee reviewing bill to provide aid to K-12 students who want options beyond their assigned public school. Let's be clear. The SC Tuition Grants program, aiding private college students, would not exist if the state constitution had not been amended in 1973.
Today, we’re proud to announce plans for our state’s first stand-alone hospital dedicated entirely to integrated care of brain and nervous system illnesses.
