This makes it sound like moats are somehow one dimensional things. Companies have regulatory moats, deep institutional relationship moats, and a myriad other things that can constitute “moats”. It isnt just the cost of building software.

Also folks have always got around the cost by hiring devs in other countries. The entire LCCS model exists for that reason.
