Localised drought conditions in February meant most river flows were below long-term average.

Ireland avoided the ongoing European drought as levels/flows recovered since 2018 lows. Continued low rainfall may require water resource management this summer.

ORCCA eDNA sampling yesterday on a feeder stream of the River Fane in Co.Louth. We are looking to determine the impact of barriers on migratory species like salmon and lamprey and also search for the presence of White Clawed Crayfish and Freshwater Pearl Mussel.
