ERs are full because hospitals are full. I see the sickest patients (outside of the ER) in the longest hallway possible. Patients lined up with EMS crews that can't offload as there are no ER beds. This should be the #1 priority of Ontario's Health Minister. @SylviaJonesMPP
I’ve spent 30 yrs caring for sick kids. Telling parents their child will never grow up is every doctor’s nightmare. We sacrifice everything for these kids. Govt and public health apathy in the face of kids dying makes no sense. @Dave_Eby@adriandix. #bcpoli#wearamask
Ontario’s medical community pulls no punches. At a time when our hospitals are incredibly overwhelmed taking care of sick children, wearing masks indoors especially in crowded settings is the right thing to do. Proud to work with such excellent colleagues.
So according to a colleague's family member in CUPE, no one from the Ford government showed up to negotiate yesterday?
Why do I feel like this just ends up with a strike a week later than originally intended?
Global News asked for interviews with the Minister of Health, Ontario Health, and the Chief Medical Officer of Health to discuss the provinces response to the “paediatric crisis”
None was made available.
#onpoli
Notwithstanding the heroic efforts of hospitals and HCWs, Ontario's pediatric healthcare system is in an unprecedented crisis.
Access to acute/critical care is imperiled, yet crickets from @ongov.
It's shocking that our elected leaders simply aren't showing up for our kids.
The approximate annual cost for the raise requested by CUPE is $264m.
The $200 per child bribe Lecce recently gave out cost around $365m.
The license plate renewal fee brought in approximately $1b each year.
If you think the cost of paying education workers a decent wage is too high, wait until you see the bill for allowing the quality of our education system to crumble. A nation's future is inextricably linked to the quality of the education system.
Many have shared confidential #onpoli documents with me & @EmmaMci showing Doug Ford got warnings about the environmental impacts of his housing bill. So we made a list.

@ColinDMello "Whatever it takes" - except pay workers an adequate wage, restore mask protections to keep teachers and students from missing school with illness, invest in decent ventilation, address long-standing repair needs....
The party that supposedly stands for “freedom” does not extend that courtesy to those that want the freedom to negotiate within their collective bargaining rights.

Today Doug Ford is making a mockery of our democracy.
In court he is using “parliamentary privilege” like a Monopoly get out of jail free card.
At the same time…
In QP he’s trampling on workers rights & threatening to once again inappropriately use notwithstanding clause.
It’s shocking to me that we’ve got MPPs in power here in Ontario that think they deserve the $16,000 raise they gave themselves earlier this year but don’t think CUPE education workers deserve a raise of just $3.25 per hour so they can afford to put food on the table.
Ontario hospital after Ontario hospital announcing mask mandates will continue despite our CMOH's decision to drop them really underscores the judgment of our current CMOH
